The truck manufacturers think they have a captive audience and can charge whatever they want. And until people stop buying those trucks they will keep raising prices.
I kept my old truck and bought a CPO BMW sedan for road trips and nights out. Use the truck for truck things. I was shocked at how much car I got for 2/3 the price of a similar year model truck.

The days of 0% Apr for 60 or 12k off pickups seems closer to reality again
While it's not a truck, because I would love to have a truck again, I opted not to.
I bought a Honda (car). 1.9 % APR for 36 months, after receiving nearly $4K off their asking price. I also got them to throw in all weather mats, decklid spoiler, illuminated door sill trim, trunk mat, and rear window shades - along with installation.
And it gets nearly 48 MPG. Everytime I think about I truck, I then think about this - my monthly gas bill is less than $60 per month. Nearly 530 miles per fill-up. Insurance also went down by $25 per month. And my note is about $340 less per month as well. I figure that I will keep this for 3 years, pay it off -- keep it and then buy a truck.

I’ve been looking at Trucks for over a year now and can’t pull the trigger. I’m looking at Mid level F150’s and Silverado’s which can be had for low 50’s with 4wd.
I know still too high but I’m worried at some point the are going to go higher. It’s like trying to time the stock market…..

What model did you buy and what dealer did you buy from?
I'm considering doing the same thing.

same feeling
i was hoping after covid and the chip issue that dealers would bring down the prices
but nope, exact opposite happened
i have a 14 year old taco with 165k miles that’s treated me relatively well. Guess i’ll be keeping her for a another 14
what i’m not going to do is pay these stupid insane prices…dealerships can piss up a rope

What’s really messed up, I still see some new 2023 F150’s on lots and they are as much or more than the 2024’s. WTF??

My Tundra will probably outlive me. But if it doesn’t, maybe I’ll finally get that Raptor I’ve always wanted.

my 215,000 mile Tundra is still purring like the day I bought it.
My 2016 Tundra with 140k miles, I swear it is smoother and stronger than when I first got it. Absolute tank, no rattles or squeaks, and I have a lead foot.

Never finance a depreciating asset. One day your car or truck will be junk. $ 50 k for a vehicle ? Not a chance.

While I understand the premise, at 1.9 % interest, at least for me, it was better to finance a depreciating asset.
And yes, you could argue that I could (and perhaps should have) bought an older model vehicle and paid cash for it. However, there were some features and luxuries that I wanted in this vehicle, namely the Hybrid model.

These and the Vette are going to be the harder sells in the current market so they're going to drop those prices. You're not going to see a near 10% dealer price drop off MSRP for vehicles that matter like fullsize sedans.
They're trying to stop the bleeding because they know the market is correcting itself and people are not going to buy at MSRP + markup anymore.

I really want used truck prices to come down so I can get one for my son. Insurance will be a bitch no matter what we get.

We just bought a new Corvette, and everywhere except the dealership we got mine from had them marked up above MSRP and then "on sale" making it sticker price. So dumb.
