I regular 5,000 mike service for a Harley-Davidson at a HD Dealer will cost you over $300

$10 oil + $10 filter = $300 5,000 mile service.
I love talking maintenance and performance with my Harley friends. I got a screamin eagle intake, double barrel port lifters, custom programmed timing and loudasfrick pipes. She'll do 0-100 in about a minute and a half. Ignorance is bliss.

Yeah bro, I didn't say it wasn't real. It wasn't needed.

The story is complicated but the reason we brought the car in turned out to not be covered by the warranty. I ended up fixing it for $21 in about 30 minutes. They quoted the girl four hundred something dollars.

It's amazing that businesses are in the business of making money. Lucky for you you already possessed the tools and knowledge and time to change whatever part needed changing. Not everyone has that.

Dude, oil change with top oils is $100.

Spark plugs can be change EASILY by anyone, including yourself for less than $100

Cabin air filter? My God, do that yourself

Flushing brake lines?terrible easy, bit any brake shop can do for $50

Get that crapmdone yourself for $300 ish.

Dealerships frick people, this isn't new

You're an idiot.

Forget the obvious point that $100 to change spark plugs on most modern cars is stupid.

Let's just concentrate on the basic brake line flush, which you say is so easy and so simple and it should be $50 and your cousin should be able to do it in his backyard. Modern vehicles ALL have ABS units as part of the hydraulic system, in order to fully flush the brake system you MUST flush and bleed the ABS unit, in order to do this you MUST have at least a level 4 automotive scanner capable of bidirectional control so that you can bleed the ABS unit, this can NOT be done without the scanner. These scanners START at $2K. So yeah, if you want to have your neighborhood grease monkey do a half arse job, go for it.

Not to mention they tried to upsell her with a'fuel injector flush', among other things. Most dealership service departments are garbage and prey on those who don't know much about cars.

took my truck for an oil change at the local chevy dealership because they had a special for full synthetic and filter for $29.99. I put maybe 5,000 miles per year on my truck so I typically take to the dealership since I only change it once per year. Get there and about 10 minutes later service rep comes in with a cabin air filter which is nasty as hell and says that mine needs to be changed. I told him not to do it. He asked why and I told him that I would change it myself just like I did the day before I brought it in which I do before every oil change along with the engine air filter. He knew he was busted and didn't say anything else. I do not totally fault the service rep because he is doing what he is being told by upper management. My wife typically makes me take her car in because they would pull the wool over her eyes quickly for blinker fluid.

Not anymore. Some engines recommend 25k-30k and I am sure some might be less

Which engines/ cars are these? Almost intervals have gone up not down. There’s some cars that can go 20-30k before needing an oil change.

I may be totally ignorant, but I have a very hard time believing there are 100k mile spark plugs out there and some new cars have 25k plugs in them.

Perfect...so if I needed 6 or 8, which the OP would need (and who I replied to)...go ahead and quote the cost to me, smartass

I figure around $88 to my door.

You don't even know the vehicle in question. You're talking out of your arse.

I've never heard of flushing the brake lines. The brake system is a closed system. I would only understand this if the system had been open like changing a brake caliper or something like that. Also how to reset the service light should be in your manual. If you can't figure this out you will get it dry every time you bring it to a shop. Also why do you bring it to the dealer to get work done. They will always rip you off. You need to find a reputable shop to do your auto work if you can't do it yourself

How do you know what the OP needs? He could need 16 spark plugs, or 12.

Ok, let's say 12....that's $130

My post still stands, even though you insisted on stretching the parts needed.

I guess now I'll hear how hard it is, lol
