Siegen isn’t what it used to be. I remember when they built that Super Target it was a little before Katrina with some endearing character to it. Nowadays, that shopping center doesn’t look as nice.

The group of Motels by I-10 certainly doesn't help the area either

Sometimes I'll get a double whataburger with cheese meal and eat it in the target parking lot over by that motel 6 and watch the action. I feel so bad for those cleaning ladies.
I'm pretty sure they feel bad for me also if they ever look over.

the hood. Tony's donuts tried to warn people about the St. Jean apartments but nobody listened
You mean Jay's doughnuts.
I used to walk across the street and get doughnuts on Sunday mornings. The best in Baton Rouge.

Someone should just go all killdozer and reduce the section 8 hellholes to rubble and send the roaches scurrying.

The St. Jean apartments, a 624-unit complex that was heavily damaged during the August 2016 floods, has re-opened after a $20 million renovation.
The complex off South Harrell's Ferry Road has been renamed The Reserve at White Oak. Although some work remains to be done on the property — the main pool area is still being renovated and will be open in the summer — the property is accepting new tenants.
The Reserve at White Oak was closed after the flood damaged half of the 624 units in the complex. All of the first floor units were affected by the water. That meant the entire complex had to be shut down because of gutting and all the work being done on the first floor.
Atlanta-based Audubon bought the complex in August 2017 for $33.3 million, 20 years after the property opened.
The complex is aimed at moderate- and middle-income families, with rents ranging between $820 for a 754-square-foot one-bedroom unit up to $1325 for a 1,588-square-foot unit with four bedrooms and two baths.
Audubon said the property is 37% leased.

I think only 60 are rent controlled. They are trying to make it a regular, market priced property.

St. Jean apartments

St Jean apartments and turned it from a mid-high end complex to section 8 shite!
Eh, I don't know anyone (other than you obviously) that ever considered St. Jean apartments to be mid-high end. It was subsidized from day one and although it started out decent, it went to shite pretty darn quick. A lot of the drug heads from Woodlawn lived in there early on and then all the, well, eh, then it just all went downhill after that.
