Initial reasoning was a restriction on federal govt’s ability to infringe upon “the right of the people to keep and bear Arms” including reasoning to form militias for security of a free state but not only this. The amendment didn’t need to include “the right of the people to keep and bear Arms” if it was just about forming militias & would have only focused on states forming & arming militias if that was the case. Same language as the people in 9 & 10 & also serving to enumerate this right of the people.

Don’t think as many people would have been willing to spread west without this right of the people already followed and protected. 911 wasn’t an option.

Anyone wanting to amend constitution should be on board with the states currently Calling for Convention to propose amendments.
