is this at every Publix?

So, they usually just have what's in the case, but we befriended Kai (and Kai's predecessor, and Kai's new student) who will make it for us. If you ask nicely on Wednesday, you may get lucky. Some Publix will and some won't. The rolls they make for us are much less complicated that the other ones they sell for $5. We get tuna and salmon, rice, with the seaweed on the outside.

ETA: For clarity, Wednesday is $5 Sushi, on certain rolls, at all Publix I know. We just get something they don't freely offer.

This is always good advice, not sure why it escapes the young.

Will they substitute cucumber for the rice?

It cuts out 300+ calories and salt + sugar

Not all places will do this, and some will upcharge.

Liz did you pass on the soy sauce cuz you would have to open the packets yourself, poured into a bowl like area and dip the sushi into it?

I haven't seen that movie in a vv long time.

Full disclosure--I have never set foot in a Publix. $5 for sushi sounds like a good deal.

5 buck sushi is pretty common now in supermarkets (well it may not have gotten to the Piggly Wiggly yet) and usually a Tue, Wed, or Thur depending on where you live and which market.

I think the Lucky's Market had the best but I think they got gobbled up by Kroger and shut down.

Egg salad rankings (none use Dukes)
#1 Lucky's
#2 Publix
#3 Krogers (but not all the time anymore)

I wish somebody would tell Rouse's about $5 sushi. They don't run any specials on that. The other 2 groceries around here, Walmart and Claiborne Hill, don't have any, not that I would eat it if they did.

I made that mistake once, learned my lesson.

Probably made in China and frozen to stores, thawed and served.

They will never get that elusive Michelin star doing sushi like that.
