Its not surprising you find this to be a bad thing and then belittle everyone who disagrees with you .

He can still get the death penalty in either LA or MS,

Neither of those will go to trial either. He will plead guilty here in lieu of the death penalty. The state will come out and say that it’s accepted because they don’t want to put the family through a trail when he’s already been convicted of a life sentence.

Realistically the state/parish will accept it because it will save them a bunch of money by not having to go to trial and they will save a bunch of money by not having him on death row.

I think it is going to be up to the family

If there was ever a death penalty case, this is it.

pleading guilty to state charges in LA, life in prison
quote:

Daniel Callihan, accused of the slayings of a Loranger mother and one of her young daughters that stunned a quiet northshore community more than a year ago, is expected to be in court in Tangipahoa Parish Friday morning where he will plead guilty, authorities say. In exchange for his guilty plea in connection with the brutal crimes, prosecutors are taking the death penalty off the table and Callihan will receive a sentence of life in prison, said 21st Judicial District Attorney Scott Perrilloux said. "That's the plan," Perrilloux said Wednesday. "That was in line with what the family wanted."

AMITE — More than a year after being arrested in the brutal slayings of a mother and daughter that stunned a quiet northshore community, a subdued Daniel Callihan pleaded guilty Friday to two counts of first degree murder. In exchange for Callihan’s guilty plea, the 21st Judicial District Attorney’s Office agreed not to take him to trial and ask a jury to sentence him to death. Callihan received two consecutive life sentences in prison, handed down by state District Judge Brian K. Abels at the Tangipahoa Parish Courthouse in Amite.

Callihan also is due in court Monday in Hinds County, Mississippi, where his attorney, Kerry Cuccia, indicated he will also enter guilty pleas in crimes he has been charged in Mississippi.

Already facing life sentences for crimes he admitted to in Louisiana, Daniel Callihan pleaded guilty Monday in Mississippi to murder, sexual battery and kidnapping charges and received a life prison sentence there as well. Callihan pleaded guilty in state court in Jackson, Mississippi, to counts of capital murder, kidnapping and sexual battery.

The guilty plea in Mississippi Monday effectively closes the legal cases against Callihan in three jurisdictions, state courts in Tangipahoa Parish and Mississippi and federal court in New Orleans.
