Router is definitely up there.

Every time I use my router I think “this is probably the most dangerous power tool I own.” Especially since there’s no deadman switch. So if that fricker kicks out of your hands you better get out of the way.

Although thinking about it, I could see a router table being just as dangerous as a handheld router. At least with a handheld you don’t have to worry too much about your fingers.

Anybody that's used power tools and ladders for years and haven't suffered an injury is lucky. I bet if we're being honest we've all done some reckless stuff just trying to get something done.

Probably the dumbest thing I did when I was a young man was hop the extension ladder when hanging Christmas lights. I was always trying to hang those lights as fast as I could go and it was quicker to hop that ladder around instead of climbing up and down. Hell, one year, I even shocked myself because I plugged in all the lights in a continuous string to make sure they worked and then decided to hang them while plugged in.

Now that I'm pushing 50, I'm way more cautious and just don't see the need to take chances.

I take the same approach on a router table as I do on a table saw. I use a push block whenever possible. What I hate is profile/template cutting. No matter how many times I've done it, that first pivot in is always sketchy.

Well I can tell you. Wear a face shield because the cut off wheels can shatter on you.

I learned an early lesson about this practice. I was probably 12 or 13 and was with my Pops helping a friend do some soffit and fascia repairs on their house. The guy was hopping the ladder like you said, and it didn't go well. He wound up with both a broken leg and broken collar bone.

Using chainsaws while on a ladder is way up there.

Some things that haven't been mentioned:

bench grinder without protective shroud
oxygen/acetylene torch
band saw
welder
old power tools (before double insulation) with sketchy wiring

I've never really had any issues with a band saw. The only sketchy thing I've seen happen with one was in the first machining class I took. We had to cut rough blanks from something like 4"×3/8" flat stock and some dude was just leaning on the cut, putting all his weight into it. The saw sounded terrible, and it was clear it needed a blade change. I guess he didn't know because he just kept leaning on it. It finally bound, jerked the piece out of his hands, and broke the blade. He had a nick on his finger with a little blood, but nothing major. I'd blame that on the instructor, though.

He learned how to change a blade and what a blade spot welder was that day.

One took 1/3rd of one to the nutsack and had to get stitches.

This could’ve been me, literally. I took one to the sack about 2-3 years ago and had to go get stitches. Thankfully, my actual nuts were fine.

When it hit me I immediately hit the ground in pain. Saw my crotch slowly becoming covered in blood and my first thought was I just accidentally cut my dick off.

I’ve definitely had a table saw “Dikembe Mutombo” the board I was trying to cut right back in my face
