more concerned as to why they take a crew of four in a fire truck that probably costs close to a mil and probably a few thou per hour to operate to the grocery store ten blocks away when they could send two guys(I even grocery shop by myself!) in one of their 4-5 suburbans

Because you know their schedules and what they have had to deal with. Could be stopping in a way back from a call.

I am from a family of firefighters and you would be amazed at the stupidity they deal with from people thinking paying taxes makes them more important. The pay is mediocre at best and they do not get compensated for any food.

I live in a rural area. Two years ago, a guy in town dropped in his yard raking leaves. A county sheriff heard the 911 transmission and got there in minutes and saved the guy's life, before the EMS could get there.

At the time, none of the city police cars had them. The county had a few. This is why I think it is most important to equip all emergency vehicles with AEDs. Maybe they are all equipped there right now. I'll check.

AEDs cost iirc $1500-2000, that's a lot more than buying some food. True, all vehicles should have them. Smaller departments usually get them from grants.

I disagree completely.
The motive is irrelevant. Bottom line is someone was helped whether it was meant as a nice gesture or just for gloating

Yep, people look for loose seems they can rip apart these days. No one appreciates a decent act, everyone is suspicious and negative.
