This is no different then any other year in August but damn I never get used to it. As a kid it was hot but I still went outside with my friends and played basketball. Now it’s like frick that and even my son is like yea frick that too. He only wants to go outside in the summer if we go swimming.

I hated it as a kid too but just dealt with it. It never kept us inside.

Pretty typical to get these heat waves in July and August. Better August than July. Lower sun angle makes it a little more bareable.

I've lived in South Louisiana 39 of 41 years and this seems par for the course. The worst summer heat wave that I can remember in recent years was in 2007. I think we had temps over 100 for a week or so straight.

I honestly don't ever remember going through a July/August period where we didn't have heat like this. It sucks but definitely isn't unusual.

Dew point 75 in BR, which sucks, but is better than a lot of the gulf coast. Mobile is sitting at 80, getting the heat index up about 115 and heat warning levels.

Haven't actually looked at the forecast today but I'd think we'll get some shot at rain later in the week. High to our west kind of erodes as the one to the east starts to build in. Won't need much of a height drop to get some afternoon storms going.

My yard handles dry spells pretty well, so I wouldn't be too upset to stay dry. Not exactly wanting to push the mower in this heat.

ETA: got a frontal boundary getting through here Wednesday. Wouldn't call it "cold" but more than enough to get some widespread showers going.

I remember that day vividly, cutting trees off power lines in damn swamp water.
