Jackson even making the top 100 makes this list a bit of a joke.

Quality of life is subjective. Not everyone values the same things with regards to places to live. That's why these lists are always all over the place.
I'd rather live in Omaha than NYC at this point in my life.
Absolutely. Knoxville probably has a lower cost of living than every place higher... except maybe McAllen, TX, but I have zero desire to ever live in McAllen.
I'd love to live in NYC at some point... but not while I have a young kid.

I thought Chattanooga would be higher on location alone. Right in the middle of CFB country, Short days drive from the gulf, smoky mountains in your backyard, in the middle of Atl/Nashvillle/Memphis/Charlotte.
I'm sure people who love living in Chattanooga are quite alright with their low ranking.

Buoyed by transportation, fine art, and Fortune 500 companies, Dallas ranks as the 14th best city in the country and one of the top cities in Texas.
I like Dallas better than Houston, but this study has it behind it. Pretty ballsy to come with an article that gives the concrete jungle of the Republic more clout.
Also, what a misleading title to this thread. Other O-T cities like Atlanta and Chicago also rank higher.
FWIW, this is a pretty sound ranking. If you've got money, this is a pretty accurate list.

As a New Orleanian, having N.O. ranked well above Charlotte is a joke.

Objectively speaking, cities are ranked according to demographics. The more dangerous minorities the worse the city

I lived there for around a year in 2000-2001. It was fun but I'd never do it again.

That’s a really shitty list. Houston shouldn’t be above Dallas and neither should be above Austin. Houston shouldn’t even be above San Antonio tbh.

No, a true Bostonian would never recognize an argument to be made for New York at #1.
Eventually all Bostonians ultimately recognize NYC is the top city on the Atlantic side of the country, and therefore a strong contender for top overall city in these types of rankings. If they don't they probably haven't ever left Boston.

This study rated Baltimore 41 spots higher than Fayetteville, AR. List is complete bullshite.

Any sane person, from Boston or otherwise, would. But if you know anything about Boston townies, many of them are not sane. But they're usually the fun kind of insane.

If you look at the aggregate criteria, I mean it's not.

Let alone SF. Place is the biggest shithole in the USA.

Apparently, you didn't read the study. "Right in the middle of CFB country" may be a criterion for this board, but, what gets lost in the hysteria in the south over college football is a lot of people don't give a flying frick. Sunday Night Football's average audience was millions higher than the national title game last year. Furthermore, being close to other good cities isn't a highlight.
Please read the study. It breaks down the criteria by category, explains it's the definition, then provides the source(s) used to rank it.
I really like Chattanooga, but based on the criteria of this list, it isn't a surprise.

Lot of people ITT confusing their gut feelings about a place with an algorithm.
Personally, I'm going to move to Fayetteville, AR if given the opportunity. But Baltimore, IMO, is a much more interesting place with a lot more opportunity in the surrounding areas. Not to mention if you're into entertainment you're in the middle of one of the most utilized corridors on the planet.

Okay, I listed right in the middle of CFB country as one thing. I also listed proximity to the beach, as well as the smoky mountains, which is a huge deal to a lot of people.
I didn't say I was surprised they weren't top 20. I was surprised they weren't higher than 99

Weird flex when Houston is 11 and Atlanta is 12...
Also, Vegas is top 10 - gross

Why? Have you not been watching the news lately? I’d rather live in Portland than New York at this point.
