There's nothing ever wrong but nothing's ever right. Such a cruel contradiction. I know I cross the line; it's not easy to define. I'm born to indecision.

The Washington Street exit just needs to be removed. That would have to help, some.

Baton Rouge drivers don't know how to merge is the problem. And then there are 8 merge points on I-10 East past the bridge.

1. I-10/I-10 split.
2. I-10
3. Washington St. on ramp
4. To/From College Drive.
5. From Acadian.
6. Essen
7. Bluebonnet.
8. Siegen.

It's a shite storm for a group of people that think they have to slow down to 5 mph to merge.

That's not the problem. Volume>>>>Capacity is the main one

I always thought br traffic was terrible... Until I moved then I realized it isn't that bad compared to other cities.

Forcing I10 to one lane at the end of a bridge was the dumbest idea ever.

I drove from Philly to DC on a Friday afternoon. Never. Ever. Ever do that. That was the most stressful drive I've ever experienced.

Used to make that drive quite a bit. DC has the most horrific traffic I've ever seen in this country. Houston in the early 80's was right up there too.

Props to ell for using some good traffic engineering terminology. However, we'd say that the v/c ratio is > 1.

We absolutely fricked up in the 60's to 70's planning ahead for the future with the traffic infrastructure. It's what happens when you let small town people run BR for decades.

First thing we do is evict everyone who but he's about the traffic.

Less whining.

Lower volume.

Less traffic

????

Profit.

Sure other cities have worse traffic but those cities are dealing with millions of people. BR is way too small to have such monumental traffic problems.

It's not the absolute size that matters but the size relative to the capacity of the infrastructure and how everything is laid out. DC isn't all that big either but the traffic there is a nightmare. I lived in Tallahassee for 10 years and the traffic in that little town is far worse than you'd expect from the size. Geography plays a big part too. The Miss. River causes traffic to be squeezed into two bridges and there isn't anything you can do about that except build more bridges.
