Give us some reasoning on what else he would be doing?
The dad says he was taking pictures of attractive women with kids...the women could have been the target not the kids.

Yes a pedo is a perv, but a perv is not always a pedo.
A peeping tom is a pervert, but unless he is peeping on kids he's just a perv.

Whole thing stinks. The photographer was within his rights to take the pics in public. If he'd shot these pics through their bedroom window, then there would be a violation. But to shoot out in the open is not illegal. That is not to say this was not an ill-advised shoot. It was. Just looks and smells bad. And if he would ever try to publish the pics, even in a perfectly respectable magazine or on-line, he would need to have a signed model release by each subject or their legal guardian. Absent this, there are grounds for civil action. But just shooting pics out there is not a sure-thing definition of a pervert/pedophile. He could be just a camera hobbyist who has little to no sense of propriety.
In America, there used to be this thing called "Innocent until PROVEN guilty" in a court of law (not the court of public opinion). It long served us well.

And if you slapped him you could be charged with assault.
thats the chance i would of taken. Big deal you get thrown in jail and bonded out and you get probation. But you get your point across.

props to the dude for keeping his composure, that took a lot of self control.

Yeah because if the guy really is a pedophile some random dude bitch slapping him is going to stop him from being a pedophile.
It might make you feel better, but it did nothing to solve anything.

in some places, it's called standing your ground ETA: even if the dude is charged with murder, the other guy is still dead
Stand your ground has to have an act of self defense involved. There was no threat involved here so it simply doesn't apply. Killing someone who isn't threatening you is murder.

I was just trying to say, that the dad shows up unannounced to what could possibly be an unstable person's house, acting aggressively, that in itself is a threat, but regardless of whether the pedo would have been charged/prosecuted, the dad gave him ample opportunity to bust a cap in his arse, end result is he would be dead, what's the old saying, rather convicted by a jury of peers than be buried by them?

What point would that be? The point you prove to your children you have a criminal record now involving violence and that if a real life scenario of life and death occurred you would have to protect them with a butter knife, because as a felon you can't legally own a firearm? Come on, save the heroics for real life and when really appropriate. Dad did a whole lot more that could be construed as illegal than Cavalier dude and filmed himself in the act. Not smart.

quote:Agree. The picture dude was creepy for sure but the dad is lucky he didn't either get his arse kicked or had the cops called on HIM.
I can't believe some people think being weird, creepy and taking pictures justifies killing someone.
No one is arguing he isn't creepy or even possibly a pedo, but absent any proof beyond being strange and taking pictures he didn't do anything illegal.
When you're in someone's yard, you'd better respect that.

If he's as old as he is and a pedophile he would have a record assuredly.
Actually, many groups like the CDC think a large portion (5-10% or more) of the population "suffers" from pedophilia yet less than .5% of the population is registered as sex offenders.
