Lake End Park in MC would be a way better option. Bring your catfish noodles and fill the freezer.

And I've never heard Berwick called Bird Dick. But I'm definitely going to use that line.

That one is on the smaller side and quiet. Lake End Park in Morgan City is a better spot. You can also stay at the Burns Point Park. Those 3 are within 20 min of each other.

I am looking to go somewhere to escape the brutal NW Arkansas winters without traveling to Gulf Coast Alabama, Florida or deep Texas. Being I was born and raised in Louisiana I figured this would be more fun being in Cajun country.

Gotcha. Maybe check out Myer’s Landing near Lake Arthur. I know a few people that liked to spend weekends there fishing.

It has been about 30 years since my wife had been fishing. We use to fish all the time on Caddo and Cross lake before I had to start working out of state. We are going to Truman Lake in June to fish for crappie.

I had to search to see what a catfish noodle was. Can the catfish fishing be done without a boat?

You win a cookie. You figured it out all by yourself.

Absolutely you can catch catfish there without a boat. There is a plenty of shoreline and a couple of peninsulas. Couple chairs, a box of worms and a couple of rods and reels and game on. And request an rv spot either on the peninsula or along/around the Hwy 70 canal.

My wife said you left out the beer and wine. I was raised up on the bayous of North Louisiana and we fished for catfish like that on the Ouachita River. When we moved and got a bass boat we would go out on Cross Lake at night and drift fish for catfish while dodging the alligators. We use to catch out limits of bream on Caddo Lake.

I think our plan now is we will spend a few nights at Cypress Black Bayou to spend some time with my wife's nephew and go to his Mardi Gras parade. We would then head down to Cajun Palms for a few days. After that we would go to Lake End Park for a few weeks. This would put us close enough for the Houma parades. It would also be a scouting trip to see if Lake End may be a good spot for a few months the following year as snowbirds.
