But do you really think the percent increase is just to offset the inflation? Cmon man.

Yes.

It’s happening in every industry across the board. We have almost hundred years of history showing this happens when you implement Keynesian economics and still we’ve doubled down on it the last two decades

Surprised MCD has not pushed harder for automation of labor task in the restaurants. All service jobs that made at most 10 an hour a few years ago before covid are now making 15 plus. This then entails raising the prices on services and products thus costing more for everything we buy.

I think in their heads these service jobs people thought it would make life better but all it did was make everything more expensive for everyone else. Back in my day these jobs were supposed to be jobs staffed by young or old persons just looking for extra income for a short time period. Thats why the pay was always so low.

To add to this, minimum wage is increasing in several states. California Governor Gavin Newsom signed a bill in October that would increase minimum wage for fast food workers to $20/hour by April 1, 2024. And many fast food chains like McDonald’s are using this as an opportunity to increase their prices once again.

Omg, we never saw this coming!!! [/s]

I can't speak for places like Cali or NY, but here in Houston, the Mcdonald's app has pretty good deals/rewards every day (lot of BOGO). Even without it, you can still get some of the chicken sandwiches and brugers for $1-$2.

I'll start worrying about the economy when I start seeing local McDonalds going out of business.

I can't remember, in my lifetime, seeing a single McDonalds sit vacant.

I've seen Burger Kings go out of business but never a McDonalds

The one on airline in Garyville by Marathon just shut down a couple weeks ago.

You clearly don’t understand basic economics. Turn off American media and go look at the economy of Great Britain following WWII under Keynesian economic policy.

I mean when did service jobs basically doing something that 95% of the population could do demand such high pay? I'm not saying corporations aren't sticking it to consumers as well but UPS drivers making dam near 40 an hour is a bit much dont you think? 17 an hour to cook fries ?50 an hour to stick a bumper on a car in a factory?

So the net result is nationally, prices will rise for everyone to supplement californicate wage hikes. Calif. McD's prices should rise to cover the cost. They should feel the pain of their policies, not the rest of us.

I very rarely eat McD's anymore, maybe 2x/year-FWIW.

McD's business model is one of market share, as is Walmart. They thrive by explicitly not raising prices when they don't have to. People are going to McD's more because they can't afford to regularly go anywhere else

All you've done in this thread is throw out trash talking points, refuse to acknowledge anyone who questions your bullshite, then cried that you're being attacked.

If that ain't a melt, not sure what is.

Regardless, would you like to take this opportunity to respond to any of my posts?
