read an article today that talked about the horrors of the last civil war. With the technology of the time there was 600,000 military deaths ( a lot of those were disease and 18th century medical care) but with current military technology it would theoretically be much worse. Article said people don't know what they're calling for.
And doing so for absolutely no reason. There is not a generation of humans who ever lived anywhere who could come back to live as a US Citizen in 2025 and not be overwhelmed by how much better the worst living conditions of the poorest bastard in this country are than those of people just 20 years ago in this country let alone the rest of the world. There has never been a better time to be alive in most of the world than today and without us doing something incredibly deranged tomorrow will be better.
Over the last 40 years we have seen a steady decline in violent crime, incomes have kept up with or slightly beat inflation, we have gone from a period of having to leave the house to buy shite to sitting in the AC and ordering it, having to go to a library or break out an encyclopedia to satisfy our curiosity about sone inane fact which is now a google search away, and except for a short period just after 2020 life expectancy is higher and climbing. Yet at least 30% of Americans dream of killing massive numbers of their fellow countrymen. America is great today, was great yesterday and will be great tomorrow. Unfortunately there are a pile of young folks who havn't got any frame of reference who somehow think they are being run roughshod over at every step and a bunch of old frickers who are scared to death of anyone who is not identical to them in every way and even then are leery of people who are nearly identical to them. Since about 1945 life has been almost without resistance in the US....and we all know it is not normal, our species history has never seen anything like it, and many of simply can't enjoy it because we are scared to death its going to end and are trying to make their fears reality. And they could very well succeed....

[Listen, I'm just tired of the constant bickering of sides. It's exhausting and social media only makes it worse. Am I alone in that feeling?]
A lot of us are tired of it, but you can't fix it, so pick a side.

We are born for survival. We're socialized into cooperation.
All it takes is a couple weeks without power in this country and you'll find out what most people are really like.

For many people, this seems to be the goal of life: to be better tomorrow than they are today, and to strive to become the kind of person, in words and actions, whom they would respect and admire if they encountered them.
You can try and try and try but how do you know when you get there? Who makes this judgement?
Where does absolute Truth come from?
Why are you afraid to voice yourself publicly? You live in bondage.
The Gospel Truth and Grace found in it is freeing and liberating.
