Do you believe Obama is a natural born citizen? Yes or no?

Yes, I will help you...I already told you that.

You can be my little padawan apprentice, and I will be your master...and your wife's master.

Haha, birther is not better (said on national TV). You are just regurgitating. Those words you mimicked are on a web-site, said in a humorous fashion.

These comments pass for acceptable discourse in your circles, Doctor?

“Wow.”

Never occurred to me to care. Didn't influence my life. I don't get outraged about stupid shite. He got elected, ok. Trump elected, ok.

Looks like my little apprentice is forgetting that they're not in my circle. :-(

No, they don't. I'm proud of you for continuing to ask questions and trying to learn.

Nah, if I want to learn more about Dr. Mengele I’ll pick up a copy of his bio.

Jeff, I know this isn't easy...trust me. But I do believe in you and your brain.

Serious question for you: how has your world view changed since you learned, just 20 minutes or so ago, that obama also housed illegal alien children in small areas at the border?

No idea. That topic was barely something I knew about. I didn't care. But seeing people on my FB threatening a kid and reading more is very chilling. The former President's birthplace is of no consequence to me. People having their lives ruined and people plastering it all over social media where I see it makes it more intimate. Keep fueling the fire Jeff.

This is the appropriate answer, but he’s looking for an argument so the asnwer you provide will not be acceptable.

If you want to stop trading insults, I believe that children may have been temporarily housed in cages during the Obama administration. However, not nearly as many as under the Trump administration, and more importantly, not purposively as an integral part of a Government policy. As an obviously educated man, you can appreciate these nuances, yes?

In retrospect the media/social media attacks on the Covington students were over the top. Some responses in support of them predictably played the white victim card. I see little shits in the video. Doesn’t warrant death threats. I will say, though that as far as I know, the school and diocese apologies stand. If those are retracted, I might change my opinion.

There is hope, my Brotato Tot...never lose the ability to change and adjust your beliefs based on new info. Knowledge and intelligence quotient are two different things.

To further this point, make sure your beliefs are based in facts. Save the emotion for your loved ones. If one thing can turn out to be factually different than you may have initially thought, just think of the world that you could be missing.

Science is ALL that matters, but it's complex, and it's therefore up to you to figure out. If you wait for others to rationalize things for you, you'll end up basing your belief system on semantics.

I am a Christian. I believe God created all men equal. “Men” includes women, all colors, races. I fear that a lengthy conversation with you would steer toward genetic superiority of “white” people, Western civilization, etc. (none of which is consistent with my understanding of Christ’s teachings.). I’ve heard that schtick before. But I don’t know for a fact the conversation would trend in that direction so i’ll give you the benefit of the doubt.

I am also Christian, and I, too, believe in God. I don't believe in God due to the Bible, however - my beliefs are based in science and math. Science says that all matter already exists, so where did it all come from? There must be something that isn't matter that created all the matter that exists. And, for math, the evidence lies in absolute zero.

I will reaffirm for you that all men, women, dogs, cats, ants, trees, etc. were not created equal...at all. I will not dive into racism here; I will only ask you to be as honest with yourself as you can be. Remember, facts aren't subjective, and only you can decide if you'd rather face the world with an honest eye or live your life believing in things that very likely aren't actually true. The latter has its benefits in that you may not feel the guilt that you assume people like me feel. I don't, of course, but we humans tend to think other peoples' brains work the way our own brains work, so this type of stuff isn't easy to accept.

As most anyone over 25 or so knows, the best things in life don't come easy.

To top a thread that has stalled, Los Angeles attorney Robert Barnes has offered to take the boys' case to court.

quote:

A Los Angeles attorney who is representing students and families from Covington Christian (sic) High School in the wake of controversy following events at the Lincoln Memorial last week said Wednesday people who have posted derogatory comments about students and the school have 48 hours to retract their statements or they will face legal action.

"Everybody now is on 48-hour notice so by Friday, everybody needs to retract and correct any false statements they have issued about these kids," attorney Robert Barnes, who said he's offering his services for free, told Fox News' "Fox and Friends."

That would include "any major member of the media," Barnes said. "That includes anybody with a substantial social media platform. If you have said anything false about these kids, they are willing to extend to you a 48-hour time period of grace, consistent with their Christian faith, for you through confessions to get redemption and retract and correct and apologize."

Quote is from NewsMax, but the story aired, as stated, on Fox and Friends.

This case has me livid, beyond belief. Boys and girls from all over Louisiana go to the March for Life every year, as well, this could have happened to our sons and daughters whether Crusaders, Raiders, Bears, Comets, Cavaliers, Hawks, Jaguars, Shaw Birds ;) St. Joseph students, St.M. students, Loyola Flyers, whoever. I know it is a Facebook meme here on the OT, but "that could have been me or mine...."

Remember, too, according to this selfsame media, no criticism was to be leveled at David Hogg or Emma Gonzalez because they were kids. Ya 'member? I do.
