Buddy of mine had a pretty bad addiction. He would treat it like alcoholism and abstain. He counted days “sober” and said using this app definitely helped. I think he had it set up to alert a friend and later on once he got it under control, set it up to alert his wife. Pretty much saved his marriage. Knowing it is an addiction is the first step, and actually wanting to improve enough to take action on it is another.

Heck, I used to watch the soft core stuff with my wife a long time ago. But some of the stuff out there is just horrible and I could see where it leads you to view more and more horrific things to the point it affects other areas of your life.

Maybe
the real problem is the disparity in sex drives between the husband and wife.

I dont doubt it but the availability has made me jaded about it. When I was a kid I would stare at a scrambled TV screen for hours trying to see a nipple. Right now I could be wasting my workday looking at porn but I'm wasting it on the OT instead.

I watched a documentary on porn addicts last year. This dude spent an average of 8 hours every day watching porn.

Therapist: How many hours a day would you say that you spend watching porn on the internet?

Porn Addict: Probably 8 hours a day, at least.

Therapist: Okay...

long pause

Therapist: That doesn’t leave a lot of time for other activities.

Porn Addict: I don’t really have a lot of friends.

Daytime porn is usually the first sign of a problem. Most of my hours are at night.

Probably, but it's also that porn leads to unrealistic expectations. Two minutes of ecstasy twice a week seems like a pretty good deal until you take a gander at the acrobatics they get up to in porn videos.

Not really much of a porn enthusiast, but I've never understood why churches and church people are so fixated on it.

I guess it makes sense in a Catholic "every sperm is sacred" context, but if you're preaching at one of those "Contemporary Christian" flip-flop churches that already has chick preachers and a guitarist, who gives a flip?

I dare say that Hallmark-like movies also lead to unrealistic expectations. Seriously, how many straight guys want to enter cake decorating contests, love to sit around and talk about relationships, wear scarves, etc.?
