Certainly can be, just like alcohol, smoking, gambling, overeating, etc, etc. And if the government tried to make people sign into an online database to engage in those behaviors, I would be vehemently opposed.

How would you feel if political news wasn't available on the internet and you had to drive to a physical store and purchase a newspaper "if it's so important to you"? Would that be ok in this day and age with the current information distribution model (the web).

Porn addiction seems to be a problem, its probably why all of these kids today have relationship issues. Yall act like if the government wanted to access your information, a porn age verification would be the only way they could access it.

Isn't the alternative to this measure just to arrest the people involved and shut down the site? It shouldn't be that hard to find a kid who watched online porn and now his parents demand justice.
When I was in high school there was a store notorious for selling beer to underage kids without carding. Hell, if you went there on a Friday night the place was filled with kids from high schools all over the city. Eventually the police moved in, arrested the proprietors and shut the place down. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.
Couldn't the same thing theoretically happen to porn sites?
