two people fall in love, get married, and spend the rest of their lives together. they go on the trips they want to go on instead of just talking about them and saying "when the kids are out of college, we'll go." they go on fancy dates every weekend because they don't have to find a babysitter or go to the little one's dance recital. they buy that boat they always talked about and take it out every few weeks.

they enjoy life together, just the two of them, because that's what they wanted.

some people want that and some people want kids. to each his own.

There's no way to find this out, but I'd love to know the results of people who try this.

These couples started a lot of problems in this country. The reason why society didn't even consider gay marriage for so long was because people understood that marriages were meant to have kids.

But you know what made these childless couples possible in the first place, birth control.

Before birth control (and legalization of it), infidelity and divorce were much less common. You know why? People couldn't hide their mistakes.

Mike Judge predicted that this would happen in the movie "Idiocracy"

stupid people have more and more babies, while smart folk never have kids.

Let's prevent this from happening guys

So you should have kids, even if you don't want them, so that you don't have regrets when you are old?

the OP is simply asking if people regret it later, not asking if people should just preemptively have kids so they won't regret it later.

That's happened since Ancient Rome

Upper class women do not want to have children. Upper class birth rate falls, they are wiped out in the demographic tidal wave

It's happening in Europe now, and coming soon to America

A nurse I work with is in her 60s and had no children( her husband passed away years ago) She said at times she had a few regrets, but only for a few moments.

She says she has enough nieces and nephews to spoil when she felt "motherly". Then she could go back to whatever she wanted to do. She travels a lot, plays tennis all the time, and has a wide circle of friends and family so it's not like she is sitting at home with 30 cats feeling sorry for herself.

I didn't make this up. Look at Facebook. Everyone's happy. Do you honestly believe all of those losers are happy? I don't.

My great aunt and uncle never regretted it. They traveled like maniacs and they ate regularly at Antoine's, Galatoire's and Arnaud's.

Dude, i get that. And I'll likely fall for it. Still no reason to get married if you don't want kids
