As an ER nurse in the Houston area another number that I feel is important is the positivity rate. The news reported it as 10%. Meaning of the tests that are collected 10% are positive. My firsthand “seen with own eyes and swabbed with my own hand “ numbers are higher than 10%.

There is an uptick. I am not some grand conspirator. And every doc and RN I work with aren’t part of some “scheme le grande”.

We do “callbacks” for a small facility and large ER. We had 18 people to call today. No way in hell we swabbbed 180 people.

Flu season will be an absolute shitshow. If I live (Lol) I will be making some cash.

Really? I was allowed to stay overnight with a family member 2 weeks ago at OLOL. You just aren’t allowed to leave the room between 8pm and 8 am.

Maybe different units have different rules. This was the cardiac care unit.

I agree. I don’t think that’s just a Covid issue. More of a societal and greed issue that should cause hospitals to be shamed. The problem: it helps fit a narrative of the liberal media while benefitting the hospital. Who’s going to report on it? No one that can get it out to the masses. It will be suppressed and the world will get a little worse.

Yall work in hospitals.

Hospitals postivity rate will be FAR higher than the overall community

People coming to the hospital to be tested are going to be far sicker on average, with a far higher rate of sensitivity

Now for your area, you need to add in all the people that go to driver through clinics etc etc to get swabbed. That drives the number down significantly, and shows closer to the true community rate

Our hospital rate here at ochsner, and then overall rate(when our clinic rate is added in)is far different
