No need to re invent the wheel.

This board has a lot of value for an investigative journalist. Once you filter through all the trolls and attention seekers, message boards can provide great ideas. You essentially get 1,000's of different people from 1,000's of different backgrounds providing detailed speculation on motives and opportunity.

I don't think it is ever that surprising when the OT comes together and solves crimes that occur in the community or exposes frauds for falsely portraying themselves. The process reads out on here isn't much different than a formal investigation with minimal leads. Creativity and brainstorming get them moving again.
