Don’t know why Costco hasn’t adopted scan and go.
Costco needs to take notes from Sam’s. Never thought I’d say that, but Sam’s checkout and app is wayyyy better than Costco. Plus they offer free delivery.

Sam's has surpassed them. Less crowds, same deals, their version of Kirkland is just as good, meat department is solid, and the scan and save is amazing.

I’ve noticed this as well. Costco was superior for a long time, but Sam’s has improved a lot. They both get too crowded on weekends for me though. I do think Kirkland is a little better though, but we have a Sam’s membership now because the Baton Rouge Costco was far too crowded and frustrating.

The crowds are better at Sam’s but not by much, but the check out process at Sam’s is better and the free delivery is a nice bonus - Sam’s having more locations is also nice. That said - the dense crowds are why I may not renew the membership when it expires. Sam’s and Costco both really need more locations. It will help them grow their membership and reduce the chaos at peak times.

Sam’s could easily make a location in Gonzales or Zachary work. Maybe even Brusly. Costco should consider Juban Road in Denham for another spot sort of near the Academy or Hobby Lobby. Gonzales near Tanger could be a good spot too.

Trader Joe’s is another store that desperately needs more locations in this area. I hate going there for the same reason I hate going to Costco/Sams: too crowded.

How about not being a zombie consumer and just buying some in season local fruits and veggies from your regional grocery?

Costco is the epitome of non-essential consumerism.

98% of what I buy at Costco is food, gas, clothing, toiletries and household items. How is that non-essential?

Why would I pay almost $30 for a 2 lb chuck roast at Kroger when I can get 2-2.5 lb chuck roasts for $40. And be able to make that into multiple meals? I can get a two pack of Rao's marinara sauce for about $12. My local Kroger wants to charge $10 for one jar. Pork shoulders and brisket are all cheaper in bulk at Costco as well, but good quality meat.

Costco is also great for non-perishables. Paper towels, toilet paper, are all cheaper than my regional grocery store.

It's easy to save money shopping there if you have some self-control.

I go (M-F) within their last open hour (7:30 - 8:30 pm). Close parking and in and out under 30min. every time. Hit the gas pumps on the way out with no wait.

Are the ones in Louisiana filled with Indians too or is this just a Texas thing?
