That's the real issue here.

You don't really seem to have a point, to be honest.

Salmon you said:

quote:

I find all the "shutting down the economy for 6 months will kill more than the virus!" thoughts to be useless

You think shutting down the US economy 6 months wont cripple this country?

You think the thought of that to be useless?

Quote from the surgeon general today

“We aren’t going to ventilator or treat our way out of this problem. The proper way to stop a disease like this is through mitigation and taking individual measures to not get it in the first place.”

In response to a question about why production of ventilators and masks and beds haven’t been ramped up. What a fricking pathetic passing of the buck.

Instead of the feds admitting they fricked up big time in preparation and attacking this thing head on, they’re taking the tack that they can’t do anything anyway and it’s all up to individual citizens. Also pathetic to basically give up on getting the country back to real life ahead of time and resigning the country to living in a dystopia for 6 months bc you’re incompetent

Please explain:

quote:

I find all the "shutting down the economy for 6 months will kill more than the virus!" thoughts to be useless

What makes it useless? It's a valid concern

It wont even take 6 months....shutting this country down for 30-45 days will do enough damage it will cause permanent damage.

People are losing money at an alarming rate. Most portfolios are down 20%, or more. Not to mention people are being laid off or furloughed on top of it.

It's actually happening.

ETA: It will even out, and eventually bounce back. The issue seems to be people think this will happen quickly. It won't. The market takes times to correct itself after such a drastic downturn.

You contradicted yourself. Its only money lost if you're looking to sell today.

People with investments have less capital than they did before. Decreasing wealth is fine as long as you don't offload your shares though, right?
