Curious to hear what my employer will say. My boss has said its fear mongering and has basically denied the entire thing. It’s a smaller company, not sure what their reaction will be.

There are a multitude of factors as to why Italy will be worse off than us. Its silly to even compare
People were comparing the number of infections and mirroring theirs over the first 11 days. We have 6x the population that they do and less people per square mile. There is no comparison.

2 weeks is not going to wreck the economy and could prevent disaster. Spreading otherwise is just a joke.

At this point it's hard to tell if you're trolling or legitimately stupid. Less people per square mile... in the aggregate? No shite the virus will spread less in North Dakota and Wyoming, but that's hardly relevant.
Seeing 4,200 new reported cases and 475 deaths in a 24 hours period in Italy should be enough to convince anyone with two brain cells to rub together that taking precautions in this country before shite gets that bad is the right course of action. But 'muh economy!' How's Italy's economy doing right now?

Here's the bottom line: Trump thinks these precautions are needed and he's allowing states to take them. You can howl all you want on a message forum, it won't amount to shite.

I'm trying to stay out of the policy debate because I'm not sure what's best to do right now. But some of what is being used for analysis here is misleading.
I assume that came from this quote in the article.
So how did GIMBE foundation come up with an estimated 100,000 current cases? Did they also estimate the number of undiagnosed deaths, because most disease models end up having significantly more estimated deaths than confirmed deaths? Did anyone estimate how many of those 100k estimated cases will die in the next month, and add that to the death total? Or did this article do something completely inaccurate, and take current lab confirmed deaths and divide it by a model estimate of current cases, many of which may still have active disease. That's worthless, garbage in, garbage out.
When I read things like that, I either go to the source data or ignore it, because every piece of information in the article is suspect.

When it reaches you relevantly, you'll realize how serious it is.
The economy is not wrecked. It's going to take a massive hit and we will recover but it needs to be done the right way.

Posts aren’t bullshite. Italy has an older population, higher smoking rate, and an overall lifestyle that makes it easier for a virus to spread. By all means, don’t allow facts from changing your opinion. And I bench 375. I’ve been working my arse off for the past year to prep for a bodybuilding comp in August. 2-3 weeks without weights will make it very difficult to get back on track.

They told me they don’t see the need for me to self-quarantine until someone that I was in the direct vicinity of tests positive or I show a symptom lol.
