In a nutshell...

now
With the exception of a major outbreak at one senior acute care facility in WA, there have been only 15 US deaths from this. Average age 80 and very very sick people before they ever got near COVID-19.

And now we've cancelled the NBA, NHL, NCAA. Shut down the country?

Surreal.

If the 37 or whatnot currently reported is legit... Which we don’t know because there could be many who previously died and weren’t diagnosed... But if it is, I have a very hard time seeing us go that high being the restrictions and lockdowns already in place.

To get to that rate, using the SK mortality, you are talking about a few hundred thousand cases, which would blow China out of the water.

Just can’t see it, but you never know.

I’d guess 1k, maybe 1500.

New to this thread, sorry, but one question and I am out. If someone is diagnosed with covid 19, what is the treatment besides quarantine?

Thanks

No exprert, but as far as I understand... Liquids, rest, breathing treatments, and potentially anti-viral drugs.

It depends on how severe it is for the patient. Mild could mean stay home and recover. More severe cases require ICU care and artificial respiration to keep them alive. And there's also in between those two.

Despite the global fears of coronavirus, more than 60,000 people who contracted the disease have recovered. Most have mild symptoms and rebound within two weeks, while those with more serious ailments may not improve for up to six weeks. apne.ws/3XhdUOA

I just saw a doctor from John's Hopkins say the US will soon be having 1,000 deaths a day from this thing.

Swine flu killed like 12,000. Put me down for that number I guess.

Does anyone know what’s going on with the Princess Cruise in San Fran? They were supposed to disembark everyone on Tuesday; however, the idiot I know on it is still there. She says they abruptly quit letting people off (yesterday, I believe?) and haven’t told them why. As of this afternoon, they did not anticipate getting off today or tomorrow. They’re being kept in the dark. They were all assigned a color and number combination, like bingo, to call groups off when they were allowing them to leave.

My good buddy, who is her cousin, asked a friend of his in the state defense force and he said he can’t discuss in any detail, but “it’s not good.”

Was that the fearmonger, Amesh Adalja? He said 50% of the US will get the coronavirus in this initial wave. 50%.
