It was an interesting experience in the lab when they solved the initial crystal structure of the enzyme.

“Son of a bitch....is that a minor groove?”

*skews image angrily*

***worth noticing that the enzyme is a core adjunct to the TCA cycle....so it’s very odd to see such a distinct difference between our biochemistry and the bacteria’s in such a important pathway.***

EDIT: You should know that I look at DVs of posts with technical information with nothing objectionable as evidence that you can’t deal that I’m smarter than you as you crush that mouse button on the down arrow with impotent rage.

So equal parts “Thank you” and “frick you”

Well this is interesting. Certainly I can understand why preexisting pulmonary disease puts you at higher risk, but don’t really get why hypertension seems like such an issue. Is it because these people are on ACE inhibitors?

Just a question, not based on actual data.

Sacramento can still only do 20 tests a day

Does it matter? They’ve already thrown in the towel on the quarantine and containment approach.

Sounds like a pretty good virus to get other than the respirator and death at the end.

University of South Carolina is going to extend spring break for students until March 23 to help “mitigate the spread”

I wouldn't be surprised if they do like a lot of universities are on the brink of doing and just going all online for the last part of the semester. I know A&M, UT, Texas State, and University of Houston are seriously considering it. I wouldn't doubt that it happens to a lot of major colleges.

Who's idea was it to send a guy to a state park?
It's nothing but old folks in RVs this time of year there

On the other hand, it could be shown in animal experiments that both the ACE-inhibitor lisinopril and the angiotensin-receptor blocker losartan can significantly increase mRNA expression of cardiac ACE2 (5-fold and 3-fold, respectively)

Well dat dere’s yer problem.

*lifts pants*

Anything that boosts ACE2 expression is gonna give you a really bad day with coronavirus.

Oh you don’t want to hear from me.

Apparently I’ve acquired the stench of a nut job wishcaster in the past 2 weeks.

Not sure what it was that caused it, other than the insistence that this is looks to be worse than the flu.

You sure you don’t want to hear how this is all part of the master plan of the Rothchild’s

Most universities in Ohio just announced that today at the recommendation of the governor. K-12 have not been impacted yet.

Apparently two of the cases here came from that Nile River cruise. Another was at the now legendary CPAC conference.

One of my professors (Georgia Southern) was told that most likely after our spring break next week we will be transitioning to online, and we dont even have a case close to us right now.
