A1C of 14? Did they know they were diabetic?

Mine was 13.8 when I was diagnosed. Now it’s generally in the low 7’s.

I was a 12 at diagnosis. Drinking water and going to the bathroom were my favorite hobbies at that time.

This was years ago and I don’t remember specifics — just that level and he came from another hime. He was a Katrina evacuee who landed in a home in Lafayette and then came to us. Very different character for sure. And I remember he was a contractor.

Yeah we all gotta keep those sugars in check these days! Have any of you had spikes with the flu before?

I’m not diabetic but am medical employee. Illness can drive sugars up. Someone better versed in DM would be bettter to answer but it can. I’d be more worried about meds that you’re on if you’re not eating much as is typical when sick. Someone hopefully will chime in or I’d suggest calling a DM educator.

I put in that I had asthma and it gave me .43%
Just tried it without asthma and it gave me .371%

So we’re now treating my wife (a nurse) like she has it at home.
Patient came by their office yesterday thinking she had an appointment she didn’t have. Since she hadn’t been screened (they’re screening everyone by phone beforehand), they did it in-person and were going to see her. She answered “no” to all the screening questions. So they go to look her lab results up in the system (which she apparently didn’t go get done) and there’s a BIG red flag on her file (and extra layers of security) stating she had tested positive for COVID 16 days ago. They immediately told her they could not see her and that she had to leave, but by then she’s already been coughing in the waiting area. They’re all wearing surgical masks and my wife went out the back door and came around the front spraying down everything with Lysol, but damn. People are STUPID.
I’m hopeful that testing positive 16 days ago means she’s no longer contagious since she would have had to wait 4-5 days for her results and likely was infected at least 5 days, probably more, before getting tested. But geeez.....still, not taking chances. She’s wearing an n95 coming through the house and is banished to our bedroom for the next two weeks. What a cluster........

I agree and I told her as much. If they have to shut their office down because any of them do get sick......I’m gonna be pissed. They should fire that patient at the very least.

15 years. I'm insulin dependent. I've had a few ups and downs with it over the years but it's never come close to that initial level again.

The IHME model was updated with some new data and lots of positives. Ohio peak now estimated to be tomorrow and coming nowhere close to our hospital or ICU capacity. 4 month death estimate now down to 544, they were at 1800 at one point.
We do have an outbreak at the local Federal prison where some of my friends work. They have brought in the National Guard (medical teams) to help get it under control. 3 of the deaths and about half the cases in this county have come from the prison.

Great to hear. Seems the updates didn't change the US, Louisiana, or Tennessee numbers. But they did have a huge shift on Sunday night.
Could you have not looked since then? If the US numbers didn't change, it would seem weird if a state's did. I do see it says updated on April 7th, but maybe that was something non-data related?
