Nobody is defining how easy. And every case can be unique. Just that it was in fact easier as a whole for previous generations compared to those today.

Where? That house in a safe area in just any Louisiana metro area will be 350k or so. It’s ok to say prices have gotten insane

This house is in Tuscumbia, AL. Not sure if you’ve ever been there, but it’s overall a nice town.

It’s still fricking hilarious all you people do is bitch how this country has gone to hell and the economy is out of control and inflation yada yada, then completely contradict yourself because you are too prideful to say the youth today is more fricked than you were

You have no idea what anyone faced in past generations. I lost both parents two weeks after my first birthday. I was raised by a widowed grandmother who died when I was 14 and have been on my own since. Between 9th and 12 grade, I attended six different high schools in three different states and lived with four different families and spent a good portion of my senior year living in a travel trailer in the backyard of a high school friend. I had quite literally nothing and no one.

Did I sit down and have a pity party? No. I saw that if I waned to have a good life and make something of myself, it wax up to me alone to do it. That’s why you’ve got to understand. Life isn’t fair and it won’t give you shite. And bitching about it won’t help. Either you decide to work and make the best of life that you can, or you’ll never have a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of.

Based on the stuff you post, I doubt you have much experience with real sacrifice. Good for you, I guess. But it's heavily skewed your perspective on what is normal.

I paid for all of my own education, and never received a cent for any asset I’ve ever bought.

I’ve been to Australia, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic this calendar year, and just got back from 4 days in New Orleans where I ate at the best restaurants in the city.

I’m under no illusion that it’s not easy out there for the 27 year old making $60k and paying $350 a month for a shitty health insurance plan, $120 a month for car insurance on their 7 year old sedan, and $1500 a month plus utilities for their 650 sq ft apartment.

I made more money than that and that shite still sucked. Same as it sucked for people in 2008 that graduated college and couldn’t find a job. Though that problem is seemingly more temporary than the bullshite young people are saddled with today.

Why some of you take facts (that seemingly don’t even apply to you) as some sort of personal insult makes zero sense. Seriously low iq shite

Just stop. Stop. This is ridiculous. We are comparing generations to generations not individual stories. As sad is yours is someone has it worse and there is zero place in discussions about generational comparisons except for emotional bullshite

I disagree. Just like qualifiers are used to put down Gen Z and millennials, qualifiers are used to say how easy boomers had it. It happens every time this topic is brought up, and happened in this thread.

So you think even Gen X had it easier than millennials despite living through the same economies and pitfalls?

Relative to that part of Louisiana, it pretty much is.

Yes, they had it easier. No doubt. And gen Z has is worse than Millenials did. It doesn’t make my penis smaller to admit that the generation younger than me has it worse

Gen X got the dot com boom and the tech boom which should have put them ahead of millennials but it’s not that different.

It’s almost like you can use reason and answer different questions differently

Are you strictly speaking relative to housing or just overall, because I think Gen X and millennials are pretty close on everything. I was born in '79 so I am in the middle, so my perspective might be skewed.

Millennial here, only guilty on 2 of the necessities listed. Are you telling me my monthly $9.99 Spotify subscription and $7.99 Netflix subscription are what’s holding me down?

Yes, among other things you probably aren't willing to list.

You’re missing the point. I’m trying to tell you that (1) life has never been fair (2) the people of this generation are not the first ones to face struggles and (3) if you want anything in life, you have to plan, sacrifice, and work for it.

If I can do it despite everything I had to overcome, anyone who is of sound mind and body can as well.

Millennials have the crypto boom and probably some of the greatest bull runs in the history of the stock market

It's easy to go tit for that if you want to.

Why do you have to put 20% down?

Because I don't want PMI and I want a lower mortgage payment and to pay less interest....

I put down 24% when I bought my house in 2018 but I am an extreme outlier and I am aware of that fact.

Yes. What you did was optional. Point is you can buy a house with as little as 3% down
