Call comes in, it’s an open case. Only way to close the case is to respond no matter how ridiculous the case may be. I’m sure that cop thinks it’s ridiculous too.
Just like that video a while back when someone called the cops cause kids were playing basketball in the street.
Cop responds, and plays with them.
Bottom line is the public can be stupid sometimes.

Look I am a big fan of LE but that cop should have started by saying he was sorry for having to follow-up. Because some people calling in some total BS.
I understand the LEO had to answer the call, but he could have also slow boated that nothing call until the guy was "unfindable" and let it go.

Per law, no. He didnt. The "suspect" didnt ask if he was being detained like he should have. This was a mutual contact between two citizens. The "suspect" didnt even try to remove himself from the interrogation.
But none of that is really the point, is it? Legality aside, the point is, is this what we want our law enforcement spending their time on? For every 10 terry stops they conduct, I would imagine roughly 60% of them result in no arrests. Which means for every 10 citizens they stop, 6 of them are innocent and just developed a loathing of law enforcement. Times thousands of law enforcement officers in the country, times ~250 working days a year. And you can see why trust and confidence in police officers is at an all time low.

Im "white". Ive been stopped for similar and even weaker reasons and actually searched without cause and in protest. And Im not talking "frisked on the outer garments for dangerous weapons". I mean my pockets emptied and my wallet rummaged through.

I know it looks corny but thats a mistake. Nowadays you should want your whole life recorded for your own protection. Video evidence can absolve you of all kinds of liability in life if youre a law abiding citizen.
There is a reason Uber, Tax cab and other commercial and contract drivers employ dash cams at all times.

It always disappoints me at how many people don't back the badge on here. One day when you are inconvenienced in traffic by a motorist with a turn signal out you'll wish you had a police officer to save you

Uh yeah you dumb frick, we absolutely want our law enforcement spending their time checking on people who someone has reported as acting suspiciously. What the frick good does "see something, say something" do if the the cops just say "what a stupid complaint" and don't follow up?

Ya, cops need to understand current climate and do their best to diffuse situations.
I also think they should be getting paid at minimum 50% if not double what they actually get paid because of everything they have to deal with and you would get better candidates but that isn't possible or gonna happen
