Cops showed up armed, looked standoffish, and wanted to search the guy's house for drugs without a warrant. Should the homeowner be nice? Cops don't have the best reputation -- I don't blame a homeowner for being aggressive. I would be fricking livid
VIDEO Cops searching a mans house without warrant in Louisiana, allegedly the wrong house.
I am apt to believe it because they did not arrest him when the man went off on the them

Alaska seems to handle this really well, though I do think it's odd how strict the dry townships are, I do know the natives seem to prefer dry towns. (from what I have seen on Alaskan crime shows)

I was talking to a guy today. He was telling me how he is having trouble getting full time work because he has a felony.
He was caught with weed at 17, and got six months unsupervised probation, then caught at 20 with weed and did six months supervised, then caught at 23 with weed and did 14 months in Hunt correctional.
For weed. Now I get, yeah he did get caught three times, but how many of you have had pot on you more than three times? It could be any one of us. It's just a really shitty system as it is now.

Awful. The war on drugs has been one big lie. It's amazing the laws/policies we have. Hopefully once weed is legal they'll wipe the prior weed arrests from people's records.

WTF do you expect for $12/hr?
I agree with others the resident should have ended the confrontation with, go get a warrant and goodbye.
That being said, the cop is supposed to be the person who de-escalates the confrontation. Not some ex-highschool bully who gets puffed up when his authority was challenged.
But again, what level of professionalism does one expect from people at this pay grade?
Be smart and protect yourself. Don't start no shite with a guy with a gun and the authority to use it.

I doubt it, would be the right thing to do. Bootleggers were always looked back upon favorably. Who knows how people will look back on this. I do know I think weed crimes should be an asterisk. If I have an applicant and they have a prior charge, of course I want to inquire more. If I saw theft I would rule them out right away. Can't trust a thief. If it was a bar fight or a simple possession it wouldn't bother me at all. Felony though, that ties your hands. Many companies would like to hire anyone, but insurance forces you to drug test and certain companies force you to submit to background checks. (In my field, if I want to take jobs from a manufacturer, I have to have a clean test on file and a clean back ground)
I would hope that everyone who got felony possession charges would have them commuted to misdemeanors.

What do you do in that situation if the cop barges into the house?
Document everything you can the best you can. Make note of times, what was done, calmly ask why. Then fight it in court and get paid.

The lesson here and with any thread like this is always pull out a phone and record your incident. Don't forget this advice.

Sorry, don't believe this story at all. If it was even over weed it most likely was not simple possession.
If someone is stupid enough to get 3 intent charges they are to stupid to be employed anywhere other than Dollar General anyway.
So no, it could not be any one of us

Couple sounded trashy, but was completely in their rights if detective had no warrant.

Exactly. Now tell me where you are again? I have a list of things that I need you to do. Also, tell your wife to bend over when I get there. I'm horny.
Sorry, just left the suite I was sitting in after an afternoon of tailgating.. your false bravado means little to people in my position

Regardless of the source do you agree with the police in that video?

No one gets paid for an illegal search, my friend

Big surprise a cop is a quick tempered piece of shite.
I bet if those other cops werent there and he didn't have his 'piece' on that cop wouldn't of been talking all that shite.

Bottom line officer wasn't threatened because they were white if they were black trust me shots would've probably been fired and it would be a different story.

Unfortunately for you your fourth amendment rights are often only enforced in court when you assert them.
In other words if you say nothing you have no rights.
I get the impression this is ok with you.
