Cool LSU Connection in Peru

I recently went to Peru and while strolling around the downtown area checking out the Presidential Palace, Cathedral, etc. my buddies and I were walking down a pedestrian side road lined with shops.

We walked pass this shoe shop with really nice dress shoes and boots in the window and we decide to pop in and check it out. We're in there speaking in our best broken Spanish to clerk about what we want to see and try on. The clerk get the owner from the back and he comes out and speaks perfect English with a slight accent.

He is telling us and showing us how they make the shoes by hand in the shop, and small talk. He then asks us where we're from, we tell him Louisiana, United States. Then the world shrinks, he says "I know Louisiana, I graduated from LSU."

We couldn't believe it, he proceeds to tell us he lived in Hatcher Hall, and how he and his friends would drive down Hwy 61 to New Orleans. It was pretty cool being thousands miles away from campus and making that connection.
