1) Peel it about halfway down or until you can twist it without tearing it.

2) Carefully remove from the bottom of the bottle.

3) Replace it on the bottom of the bottle just enough so it won’t fall off.

I remember drinking those then taking the empty bottles to the woods and using them for target practice with my Marlin .22.

They have the thin stryofoam kind of labels on them? You could easily rip them off. Couldn't you pull the label down off the bottle snd then slap.it real hard to make a loud pop sound??

Am I remembering that right?

...aaaaaaaaand now we reach that point in its short history when production suddenly came to a halt on that variation.

That is called the Banquet Bottle.

It was primarily used for hotels, conference centers, bars and other on premise accounts.

When the the inventory was too high they would discount them to local retailers to sell out before expiration date.

We always peeled the styrofoam off before we finished drinking them.


ETA; didn't read responses before posting, but it looks like everyone did the same thing. The good ole days !

Looks like you can get $20-$30 per bottle on eBay.

Yep this is seriously a multi-faceted treat. Drink and enjoy. Peel and enjoy. Then throw that sumbitch and break it on something. There was much joy in the 80s doing these things. I thankfully got over the need to break glass bottles, but not until after I found and broke every single one along about 1.5 miles of Ward creek. Just smashing, nothing like damaging other things or property. Yeah that's right, you could say I grew up in a ditch.

This looks like “new” Coke. Put them on eBay and see what happens. nope. New Coke had a gray line next to the white line on the logo
