My parents had a subscription back in the day when I was but a wee G...but what about now? Does it pay in your mind?

I wouldn't pay for a subscription with all the internet resources available. Seems you can find plenty of reviews and info on anything if you put in a little effort.

Used to be a subscriber and big fan. It's good for a new home owner who has lots of purchases to make.

After you get settled, not so much. Just go to the library when the occasional need rolls around.

They also bug me with how important energy efficiency is in the evaluations. "The ABC dishwasher left spots of egg and was noisy as frick, but it left the smallest carbon footprint, so it was our winner."

No. I want the product that does the BEST JOB and is most reliable. Tell me the energy efficiency, and I'll decide the importance of that factor, along with price.
