I guess they will have to hire legal workers

Good luck with that. No one in the US can live off of the pay a helper makes in residential construction.

literally a complete lie

You literally haven’t tried for 20 years to hire anybody else to do this job well.

$50-60k you can’t get good skilled labor that wants to work. What I know plenty of these folks with no English and no extended formal education make each year.

The volume of immigrants and the way this last administration did them is a crime. That said, control the borders and get rid of the criminals.

ICE going to job sites is lazy.

We will be paying much more for food and housing if they start raiding these employers.

You are also ignorant if you think many of these folks didn’t have social security cards AND clear E-verify. Government allowed it and now is gonna screw all of us.

My cousin, who is a well known celebrity in Nashville built a house probably 15-20 years ago and he told the contractor no illegals on principle. I think he told me it cost him an extra 50k. House was probably around 800-900k. He owned the land etc

If you want to arrest thousands of illegals go to:

Any chicken processing plant
Any hotel or casino when maids or cleaning crews show up
Any construction site
Any agriculture site that involves picking fruit etc

Agree. My experience with this was St Tammany. We used their work release program. It was a shite show. One of my best guys got caught with a few grand under his mattress. Very quiet little dude. Apparently he was the drug dealer and getting shite from “citizens” annd kicking some up the line. Also had a few get so fricked on spice they thought they were in outer space. It was a shite show. I felt really bad when they rolled up and took my one guy that loved the work. He was actually a good dude. He worked his arse off and was glad to do it.

I always find it funny in threads like this and IRL conversations yall act like illegals specifically Hispanic ones come here with some sort of advanced construction knowledge that is irreplaceable and impossible for American workers to grasp

The game works like this no federal
Contractor or casino etc hires illegals.

They hire subcontractor who hire illegals.

Sorry baws, but I haven't seen a roofing company without illegals in decades, no matter what they charge or how upscale they are. White people don't want the jobs anymore

It's comical, like the dude above that said illegals take more pride in their work. Why? They'll just move when everyone hears about their shite work.

Work ethic is hard for “citizens” to grasp. Take away welfare and they may change their tune.

Apparently ICE rolled in on a residential construction site 2 days ago around Gonzales and cuffed 5 illegals and took them away to never been seen again. Have a few superintendents I know that watched it go down.
I'm not familiar with this industry. Is it normal to have a few superintendents on one residential job site?

50-60k 1099'd is shite. If you value retiring or healthcare ect, you can reduce that 50-60 by 40% to take care of those things.

Does this apply for every industry or just food and housing? Because I'd sure like to pay less for engineering and accounting if we can bring over a hoard of HB1s.

They’ve already hit some of the processors in the TX panhandle, within the first couple of days of the raids starting.

I also don’t sex offenders or other types of criminals working on my house just because they don’t run background checks on illegals or checked their identity documents.

Can’t speak to every hand but we run background checks of the crew lead/business owner. I’m sure the odds of one of them being a sex offender is about the same as the white plumbers helper.

It would also be nice if I didn’t have to try and locate the one person who speaks English and Spanish when I have a question or concern about something a worker is doing.

Why wouldn’t you just call the roofer? Why would you want to talk to one of the random hands? We also have PJM’s on every job so that wouldn’t be an issue with us.

But the whole “it would be nice” goes right back to my earlier point. In a dream world legal white or black people would do the job, but they don’t want to. They just don’t have the work ethic. I think we paid over 400k to our biggest metal roof sub last year. The money is good, just nobody but Mexicans want to do the work. That’s just the facts, regardless of what a homeowner wishes.

They take pride in going to work and working. Quality is up to whoever they are working for. Our local population can not compete with their work ethic.

Why bring them over when you can keep them living in Mumbai and send one person over to monitor every now and then?

Look guys, many years ago, maybe GW Bush years, I used to own a company that brought in skilled immigrants legally under H2-B, EB-2, and 3 visas from South America. We had guys with Phds willing to work as carpenters, welders etc, as they were driving cabs in Columbia etc.

We started this company at business and industries request because ICE did a bunch of raids and looked like they were serious. (My partner used to be married to one of the most prominent families in South America and had unreal connections and everyone knew it, and could get the people and visas. )

Well, to make long story short basically ICE backed off and everyone backed out doing this legally because it was cheaper to hire illegals and canceled all our contracts, etc. After spending a a bunch of money we ended up bringing in zero legal immigrants, and shut it down.

BTW everyone involved in this including us were big GOP guys like everyone else in Mississippi and Alabama.
