Since the oilfield crash I've been doing plant work and hate it. Plan on taking a P.I. class in Jan. and the work (Fraud) will never end. As someone who was already in LE this would be the perfect job for you and the pay (Even as an employee of a firm) can far surpass plant work.

Not at all to do with "quitting", love what I do but the pay is way better at a plant, something like 30k more.
Not like I'm quitting and then looking for something, just trying to improve lifestyle.

I think police wages are going to have to rise quite a bit in the near future since nobody will want to sign up and deal with all of the BS going on today. Also, I think many officers will quit or retire much earlier which means if you are good you will rise up the ranks very quickly. So....with pay increasing and promotions coming more rapidly you may want to stay and have it pay off long term.

I graduated with a CJ degree a few years ago with a desire to work in LE until I started looking at some of the salaries in La. Too much bullshite for that little pay.

You are probably used to shift work so that won't be a challenge. If you get into a batch process unit it'll be more labor intensive than a continuous process plant. Potential for lots of OT depending on the plant you work.
Don't be the guy who does the bare minimum. Work your but off to learn the plant to set yourself up for future advancement. It took me 4 years to advance, but that was in large part due to the lazy bastards I worked with in my unit. Good luck.

Better quality of life financially.
Depends on what kind of plant it is. I'm in a power plant so I don't have to deal with the chemicals that those guys deal with. Shift work you already do so that shouldn't be much different.
