So from your link, in Louisiana in 2013, there were 5073 guns stolen and 90 lost. 90 seems like a really high number for an entire state for the year...

I completely understand the other side of my argument. I am not blaming responsible gun owners for deaths. I am a gun owner and have NEVER been a person to want and limit gun ownership.
I really just don't get how a responsible gun owner is accepting of the amount of illegal guns that come from irresponsible gun owners. Potentially 200k unaccounted for guns entering the black market and there is no inward look for what can be done to prevent it.

You really don't get the word "context" either it seems. How many of those are recovered? How many of those wind up lost and never used for anything? How many were stolen from locked homes, safes, gun cabinets, etc? You think a gun safe is panacea to the stolen firearms problem? How ignorant do you plan on making yourself look?

He also assumes that all those guns go on the black market. A lot of them are pawned in which case the next buyer will have to do a background check to purchase it. He's a very shallow thinker.

But if you punish people for "losing" their guns, they will just start "reporting them stolen".
I find it deplorable that people lose guns but I'm assuming the majority of those come from hunting losses.
People aren't dropping their concealed carry guns on the street and leaving them behind. Nor are they "losing" them out of their cars. They are being stolen.
I do see how people can be out in the woods, riding through the woods on their ATV and a gun falling off the rack.
And I SERIOUSLY doubt that many guns are being "lost". They are not being lost. They are being "removed from the system". Off the grid, per se.
