Supposedly, Glenwood received a positive test today for a patient that checked in on Monday and died Tuesday.

His domicile was another Parish, so I do not know how this case will be counted.

Yeah I’ve been hearing this all day in West Monroe. They announced 2 more deaths in Louisiana a short while ago, from Jefferson and Catahoula parishes. So it could be the Catahoula resident who died. Someone just told me it was a 38 year old. I don’t know what to believe though

Didn't we have this thread 2 weeks ago under "in West Monroe"?

Did the local news and a dude on the Police Jury confirm that one too?

Yes, 38 year old from Catahoula transferred to Glenwood. Test returned positive posthumously. He had underlying medical problems.

Yeah that is exactly what I was hearing. Underlying medical problems. I’m trying to figure out why they sent him up here though. Would think a hospital in Natchez would have been better

I'm assuming he went to the hospital in Winnsboro initially. They transferred him to Monroe. I worked a lot of ER in Winnsboro and Monroe/WM was our main transfer facilities.

What are considered “underlying conditions” relative to this? Seems vague. Hypertension? If so, only untreated? If you take your meds still and keep your BP normal are you good, or just having that condition in general, even if treated, qualify as an underlying condition? Gout? Sprained ankle? IBS? Chlamydia? Asking for a friend, obviously.

Why all this vagueness regarding these underlying conditions? I mean, clearly, if it’s cancer, emphysema, COPD, heart disease, those would obviously qualify. That’s easy. But what else? (My friend is very worried about the chlamydia situation.)

He was from Sicily Island in Catahoula Parish. That’s NELA, no? I knew the guy when we were younger. He was 38 and apparently had some pre-existing conditions. I’m not sure what they were though.

Monroe has a good bit more medical resources than Natchez. A little surprised they didn't send him to Ellick since it's closer but these rural hospitals generally have an arrangement with one particular regional hospital that they send patients to by default unless the patient requests otherwise.

I was told he drove straight to Glenwood. Was not taken by ambulance or stop in Winnsboro.

Catahoula is shaped weird. The northern part is definitely NELA. The southern part is practically in Acadiana.

I just got some more info about the 38-year-old Catahoula guy. I feel bad for even sharing this, but he’s not that much older than me, so it’s kind of scary. Turns out he had Aids and Diabetes.
