People should not have guns in their vehicles. It's very dangerous and can make people use them wrongfully. People become too extreme when they have something that powerful in their possession. Instead of violence, maybe we should try to use our own voices to reason. Let's end senseless acts of hate like gun violence. Too many innocent lives have been ended by guns.

Fascinating and has ZERO to do with the OP.

Disagree.

A lot of us travel in AL a good bit and many aren't aware that what is legal in LA will get you locked up with the quickness in AL.

I always drop the mag and empty the chamber when passing through AL. Still not completely in the clear, but I think it would work out OK if pulled over.

I would never voluntarily tell police officer that I have a weapon in the car. I will tell them if they ask.

Serious question, would an Alabama LEO and/or prosecutor really pursue these charges. Say if someone had Texas state tags and was passing thru Bama and pulled for something like 8 mph over. Officer asks if you have a weapon and you give him an honest reply of yes, it's in my center console, loaded. Would they really seek into pursuing that criminally?

I just leave it at home when going to/through bama.

Kinda shitty that I'm going to have to get a CCL just so I can quit doing that

Call me stupid if this already exists.

Why wouldn't a CHL be hooked into the DMV?

Most traffic infractions are for some bullshite PC reason, in order to find something bigger.

Depends on the cop.

Man, it all depends. I'm sure it's their discretion, but what if you meet an a-hole?

Not worth it, IMO.

If you have a permit from your home state, AL has reciprocity agreements with like 27 states. If you don't have a permit, you can't have a loaded firearm in the passenger compartment of the vehicle.

Now, if you get stopped, and aren't being a dick, when the officer asks about weapons, he MAY not press the issue. When I was on patrol, it really depended on the situation. If you weren't being a dick and the license check was clean, I would just write the citation.

You're probably safe in that scenario as long as you're white.

I asked a cop in Mississippi about this one time and she encouraged me to always keep the gun loaded with a bullet in the chamber.

I would advise the same. If it ain't loaded you just have an expensive paperweight.

I've avoided two car jackings bc i had a pistol in my truck, but you're welcome to get jacked.

I could've used my voice while the two dudes jerked me out of my truck though.

Only if you have the weapon concealed on your self.
