Composite Metal Foam(CMF) turns armor piercing bullet into dust...

CMF's are composites that are actually lighter and more configurable than the metals they're made out of. They are extremely adept at blocking X-Rays, neutron radiation, and oh yeah...they make Kevlar look like Jel-O....

There's a YouTube after the jump that shows a test done in slow mo that is kinda mind-blowing. The applications for this stuff from a military, law enforcement, industrial, and even residential applications like fire retardant building materials are vast.

The bullet is not turning into dust. That dust is the CMF coming off the plate at impact.

Still impressive though, but the bullet doesn't turn to dust. Lol.
