This is really weird, a Tattoo-themed thread on the O-T.

It's like the first time the subject has ever come up here.

I just don't know which way to comment.

Company Tattoo Policies

Sounds like this is in a rural area perhaps. He could probably make more money in a more modern market in a bigger city. Just comply with he employer's request and get experience needed to jump ship to a more lucrative firm.

eta: The guy does sound trashy, though.

A friend of mine got an arm tattoo with his daughters name and his employer asked him to wear sleeves from now on.

Can you describe said friend?

I can't think of ANY worse tattoo than a name. Even your child's

Especially in a visible place.

Most legit companies don't want tattoo's on display, generally creates a loss of professionalism aura to any customers.

Tattoos shouldn't be displayed in a professional setting.

My profession is rock -n- roll. This doesn't make sense to me.

It's like me saying "tattoos dont belong in an unprofessional setting."

It all depends on your gig man.

This. Can't have a beard and be taken seriously, yet they walk around with pedophile style moustaches.

This all depends on where the company is located. I have not worked for or patronized an establishment here in 6 years that is anti tattoo. Know your audience though....the south is different.

Maybe so, either way it does not influence employment here.

Tattoo policies are old news.

This is the new employer issue:

You serious Clark? If he doesn't like company policy then he needs to create his own company and work for himself so he can make his own policy.

Short of that, he needs to internalize this mantra from a giant of the business world. Make sure he realizes that he is not Kenny Powers as he internalizes said mantra...

I want to be a woman and hit off the red tees. I don't want my junk nipped and tucked though.

By the time that happens tattoos will have gone the way of the mullet haircut.

Unless you drive a truck.

There are several large trucking companies that I know of that require there drivers to cover any tattoos when they are interacting with customers.

One driver I know, who has 500K miles with no accidents and no traffic violations was not hired for a high paying job because he has a neck tattoo that is impossible to cover up completely.
