OP speaks of friends' "cohabitation", not marrying, having children as normal, acceptable, possibly even favorable, while simultaneously blaming divorce, the destruction of the traditional family, racism, and "white flight" on Boomers.
My wife and I are not divorced. Son 1's in laws are not divorced. Son 2's in laws are not divorced. Soon to be married youngest daughter's in law is a recently widowed man married to his wife for 40 years. There's lots of families in multiple places to try to accommodate during the holidays. If y'all love each other, you just try to be fair, reasonable, and do your best.
