I've read that a lot of the discount cologne shops, be they online or brick&mortar, are selling really old bottles which deteriorates the scent and shortens the time you can smell it after application. No idea if it's true but there has to be something wrong with the stock to be able to sell it so cheap and stay in business.

Do you baws pick out your own scents? That seems weird to me. Wouldn't you want one your SO likes and picks out? I know the beard oil I use is a scent my wife picked out, and the Burberry she wears that I like is one I picked for her.

Look for those that have either the brand or a perfume distribution company as the seller. I’ve worn the same perfume for 20 years and it cycles in and out of department stores. Some years my only choice is amazon. I’ve never gotten an imitation.
