College vs Trade School “Debate”

You always see people who did not go to college shite on college degrees but you rarely see college grads shite on the ones that did not go to college. Something I been noticing a good bit lately that just seems uncalled for. To me, both are needed in society so I do not see the point of the debate.

I haven't seen this at all. At least not any more than normal.

Shitting on the ones who didn't go to college, IMO, is more silent. It's in the way people are treated. In the same regard, I think a lot of people who didn't go to college feel a little insecure. Definitely not one size fits all.
If you're a plumber, electrician, HVAC guy, etc you have all my respect because you're actually doing something tangible that is keeping this whole thing going. All I'm doing is making sure our private books are in balance.

People that go to college want the successful taxpaying people who didn't go to college to pay for their student loans. For starters.

I wanted to make $200k out of trade school and didn’t want to hear queer professors talk about gender studies and CRT. Trade school was an easy choice for me.

This is daily when you question why a contractors price is so much and are they ripping you off.

We don't like to punch down.
In all honesty, trade school after high school would have served me better than college. Wish I would have gone that route. Would have saved some money. The folks with college degrees that seriously shite on trade school people usually have some useless gender studies type degree. They are jealous because 4 years out from graduating they are waiting tables.
ETA: the folks on both sides who do it usually have some pretty deep seated insecurities. The 40 year old journeyman fitter who never made foreman because he hops to another company every three weeks gets pretty salty. When I was a fitter taking night classes I got shite on constantly for it.

actually i do see that, but it's usually some dumbass with a sociology/lgbtqwtf degree that doesn't know their arse from a hole in the ground. when someone doesn't understand anything, if you appeal to their vanity, the dumb ones will go with w/e makes them feel "empowered".

bullshite. We've done it on a local, state, and national level for a couple decades or more now.

Yep. My lefty MIL with plenty of letters after her name only refers to contractors as "Bobo's" because SHE is an engineer and knows 1000X more than the dumb bobo, who she is paying to fix her AC or patch the roof or plant her landscaping. I have an aunt who is the same way, very high class liberal that looks down on blue collar people, assigns plight to them, assuming they all live in squalor and were born stupid, with no idea they actually live in nice houses and make as much money as she does, but because they didn't go to college and pump septic tanks for a living, they must be lesser than her. This kind of attitude is a fundamental characteristic of the elite leftist.

Trade school is clearly more superior

More people should NOT go to college than actually do.
It should be much more difficult to get into college than it is.
Plus all these online ‘diploma mills’ make it even more ridiculous.
Also, WAY more people should give trade school a try than actually do.

Because they shite on us at work and don't like to talk about it so HR won't find out.

Here’s the problem: everyone else’s kids should go to trade school. Not yours (well not you specifically). People like to brag about Ainsley or Zaxton going to a four year college, not community college U. It’s become a piece of keeping up with the Jones for middle class to upper middle class Americans.

There shouldn’t be a debate and there isn’t one universally correct answer
Different people require different avenues for success. The fact that people think that everyone needs to do it ‘their way’ just blows my mind

This is true on this board just not in the rest of the world
Because this board is largely college grads who see the value in trades.
But as mentioned, most of us won't send our kids to trade school, which means there is still some latent bias there. For me personally, I think it's the idea that trade school is valuable but it is limiting, to an extent. And for most of us, for most of our lives college wasn't particularly limiting (a decent degree from a decent school could see you to a productive career in a number of areas).
It may not always be like that, perhaps it's already not like that, but I think most of us would still opt for directed (ie, a productive, useful, substantive major) college over trade school for our kids.
