Nobody is getting an engineering internship as a freshman. Not even with a professor.

What career based job will an incoming freshman, who will likely end up changing their major, get? Especially in PetE. You have no clue what you're talking about, but I'm sure you think you're impressing someone here.

Subway
Seriously, closing shift is the best job in the food industry for students, at least the one I worked at (Burbank near LSU).
Free food and a pretty relaxed atmosphere, also making sandwiches is easy AF. Also, if you tipped I was grateful but also thought you were a chump.

cart boy at oakbourne... He can play at the nicest course in lafayette for cheap, hit on the very hot cart girls and eat for free.
If not there he could be a rod man on a survey crew, requires virtually no experience and it will help him in his career in the future. It's not an internship but it looks good on a resume and would be good experience.

So we're both putting words into each other's mouths great let's agree to disagree

College student job
If he has a reliable car, deliver pizza. Pizza hut pays 7.25 plus .96 per delivery (you can take multiples and double dip) plus tips. Tips and delivery fees paid in cash nightly. Dominos tries to cut pay on multiple orders, papa johns only pays 5.25 when you're out on delivery. Stay the fk away from jimmy johns. They charge delivery feee but give nothing to driver, pay under min wage. Their drivers work for tips.
Pizza Hut has cut delivery pay as well. You make 4 dollars less while you're on delivery than your normal pay is. So he'll be making 3.25 while on delivery.

I didn't put any words in your mouth. You agreed with a poster that said internships and career related jobs are the best for him. I asked for you to talk about what you did as an incoming freshman and you've dodged it since.

I worked for a construction company project manager learning how to estimate and manage job sites. Pretty good info that I still use to this day.

Hate to break it to you, that one extra year of student work didn't make or break you getting a job out of school.

Check the career services page on ULL's website. Plenty of part time jobs available

Negative. Probably franchise. Corporate stores are 7.25 in store ans on delivery. Delivery drivers are the only workers ineligible for pay raise.
