Breckenridge for the Fourth of July
Hang at Maggie pond for the day and go down to Dillon for the night and watch the fireworks reflect off the lake....

The southwest part of the state tends to be overshadowed by the Rocky Mountain NP area. But the Black Canyon, Colorado National Monument, Mesa Verde, the Great Sand Dunes. Lot of great places

Salida or Buena Vista area should work...it was nice when we went a few years ago.
