We'll all be asked to pay taxes again on our Roth IRAs in 10 years to prop up some new school lunch program or free gender reassignment surgeries.

Bernie has already proposed that all stock trades be taxed to pay for more social programs. Those taxes will be passed on to you, not some faceless Wall Street corporation. That can't bode well for 401k's.

Bernies planslead to ever decreasing returns and huge losses of wealth. Everyone suffers.

Socialism and progressivism are punitive. Make no mistake, it's about punishing the rich.

The middle class would pay for most of it like anything else. They'll be the ones that are hurt the most. Some guy worth $75 million won't be bothered much.

Yeah, this idea that there will always be a steady supply of billionaires to tax is preposterous

I still like the old Bill Buckley quote... "The problem with Capitalism is Capitalists. The problem with Socialism is Socialism."

There is that undefined word again.

Actually, it's pretty well defined. You can keep up the semantics if you like, but we both know what it means.

If % is fairer, why not charge them more for EVERYTHING?

You claim the word is undefined, but you seem comfortable using it in a sentence where you demonstrate understanding of the word while attempting to make some sort of point that's completely illogical.

Do you think that money will stay in the economy?

The point you dont get is that that money isn't in the economy anyway. It's squirelled away in Ireland and Panama and God only knows where else.

This is the same old trickle down hogwash we've heard for 30 years.

I could not imagine being a grown-arse adult and giving a shite what others make and earn. It is such an immature mindset.

BTW- billionaires like gates, bezos, waltons, etc have done far more to help the living standard of the lower classes than any govt program could ever dream of.

Amazon has massively lowered shipping costs and has revolutionized delivery systems. Walmart saves poor families hundreds if not thousands of dollars a year on food and grocery costs.

As thomas sowell argues, the common story behind billionaire success stories in america is that they have figured out a way to lower the cost of producing some good or service, which allows them to lower their prices, and expand their market share greatly through an increased customer base.

My problem here is I like most feel the effects of any kind of changes that our government makes whether it be healthcare, tax breaks, etc. The middle class feel this the most because the rich make so much money that a couple million here or there doesn't effect them and then you have the poor (below the poverty level) that dont pay shite. I would love to get my student loans forgiven but guess what I make to much money because I have a good degree that I worked hard for an earned. I read the language in the everyone will get their college loans forgiven nope just the ones that flunked out or got a shitty degree. Once again all this free shite these Democrats talk about doesn't pertain to the working middle class. I just wish we could see RESULTS in politics not what one party wants or doesn't agree with. DON'T even get me started on socialism

There's always a cost. They have lowered some of the costs for the customers too, but they sure don't take care of their employees while doing so. Why? Because they cant do both. It's just math.

The Waltons? You mean the family that had their employees filling out welfare forms? That cut employees hours to part time so they wouldn't have to offer them benefits? Guess who works at walmart? Poor people.

I'd say Sowell conveniently ignores outsourcing production and jobs and the effect that has on the average American. He's conveniently ignoring some pretty relevant costs.

I mean I don't give a shite how much imaginary money they make. I just find it ludicrous that so many people rush to defend a class of people that has no concept even remotely close to what the average citizen deals with on a daily basis. Sam Walton did back in the day and Walmart was a much different company then. His spoiled rich children that did nothing? Not so much.

It's odd how this board loves to roast celebrities as being idiots and having no clue about things, but rushes to defend people that are just as far removed from reality as the celebrities. It's just hypocritical.

The results are there. They just help their crony backers and friends. The system is working exactly as it's intended to work. That's true regardless of party.

The establishment we call Washington is home to some of the most crooked people and as long as we have billionaires and lobbyists channeling money into our politicians on both sides things will never change. I support Trump for the very fact that he wasn't a politician although a billionaire he was willing to take on lifetime crooks and try and get shite done but I guess the Democrats this cycle aren't going to let this happen. I will vote for Trump again because I am not voting for a bunch of libatards(throw in Hollywood also)that think catering to specific groups and social classes will get them a presidency.

That was the theory on Trump but all his advisors and appointees are all basically lifelong crooks or just plain incompetent. I think he managed to fool an awful lot of people.

The reason billionaires exist is because they have made stuff that people really want successful.

Taking away the ability to make great wealth causes the downfall of greatness

If by fooling people you mean putting more money in my pocket, got rid of that Obamacare bullshite and my skyrocketing insurance premiums, and my 401k doing great(well was doing great) I will take it. Seems like this country is in alot better place now than it was before he took office.

I've not noticed any more money in my pocket. I paid the government a shitload of taxes and barely got back 1k. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

My insurance premiums have gone down the last 2 years and I have paid less taxes and gotten a bigger paycheck with the tax cuts. I dont get a big tax return now but I will take the extra pay each pay day. Maybe you need to make some of that baller money to notice the difference.

My insurance has only gone up. And yeah, that's the point, you have to be wealthy to notice a difference.
