This drug is used for treating skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, lichen planus, and other things.

5-6 years ago, 100mg could be had (without insurance) for about $20.

Today, Big Pharma (after obtaining the patent from the FDA) charges about $600 for 100gm without insurance.

I have insurance and a manufacturer's "coupon" to lower the price to $253 (a week ago it was $140).

I'm proud to live in a country that allows pharmaceutical companies to charge whatever the frick they want when they know they are guaranteed to be the only game in town.

You realize there are about a dozen slightly different steroids that do the same thing right? Ask your pharmacist for something similar and MD can call it in.

Other countries are probably glad we provide all that R&D to create your rash cream. You should move to one of those. Just promise you won't come back when you have more heavy duty medical issues

Steroids are never the answer. Might seem like a good idea at first but you will regret it in the end.

I've tried at least 4 or 5 others. Nothing has come close.

These arent systemic steroids.

You used them on a rash for a couple weeks.

Also, I was taught at about 3 yrs of age that scratching only spreads rashes.

That is just an insurance money grab...they all have programs to help you to afford the meds. Do some research to find out what they offer and give them a call. Talk to your doctor too...they often know of additional programs.

There are multiple formulations of each. Everything from solutions, creams, ointments, foams, and gels. All play a different part depending on the condition being treated. Could have been why.

"getting a patent" doesn't work like that. The price went up because it was generic and wasn't very profitable, so people quit making it except for a few manufacturerers (or one). Then the remaining jack up the price because no one else makes it. Has happened with a lot of drugs.

I’ve got psoriasis and was prescribed clobetasol. I have an HSA plan and a deductible. Went to Walgreens and they were like “five eighty three” and I literally thought they meant $5.83

When I saw it was $583 I just laughed and told them no thanks. For shits and giggles, I did ask how much the generic was. She said this was the generic

It sucks because nothing works as well. But oh well, I’m not paying that.

I know sometimes a class one steroid is needed, but really just get a one pound jar of Triamcinolone 0.1% for super cheap.
