Works well for most people. Clobetasol is quite a bit stronger but will give you side effects much quicker. Ask your derm provider about dupixent next time you go in.

Derm providers don’t set the Rx prices or negotiate deductibles numb nuts

If you need potency, betamethasone isn’t quite as steep as clobetasol.

Vanos cream is really cheap from a pharmacy called GenRx. It used to be really expensive until it went generic.

AllDay Pharmacy in India.

Shipping is outrageous, but still cheaper than U.S. No prescription needed.

I'm all for free market capitalism. But things that impact people's health need to be looked at. A friend of mine got in an accident and cut himself up good but wasn't in danger of bleeding out, so he had to wait. He was laying in the emergency room waiting for a doctor for 2 hours when I asked him if he wanted something for the pain. He was like "shite yes, will they give me something?" I asked a nurse, and she came back with a Vicodin pill. A couple of weeks later he gets the bill. In the $1,300 3 hour emergency room bill (cleaning the wound and getting his stitches took the nurse 20 minutes, never did see a doctor), the Vicodin was listed as costing him $80. How the frick is that okay?

Well we got to pay for the free care that illegals get somehow.

My friend has a live-in from Brazil that got free eye surgery worth $20,000. Pissed me off enough that I kind of blew off my friend.

No nurse put in stitches, likey he saw an NP/PA, doctors in ED rarely suture anymore... that’s one of the reasons they hire midlevels to do time consuming procedures like suturing

Find a local independent pharmacy that compounds drugs and see if they can compound something for you that includes the clobetasol in the dosage form that you require cheaper than billing your insurance for a manufactured product copay.

What city do you live in? If you’re local in Louisiana I can recommend a good compounding pharmacy

Ask your doctor for an alternative:

To run an ER, you need highly trained and skilled staff willing to work odd hours, weekends, and holidays. A large portion of the cost is for the convenience of having such a skilled team available.

He was like "shite yes, will they give me something?" I asked a nurse, and she came back with a Vicodin pill

The nurse didn't hear the request, get the pill, and say, "how about this?"
He was triaged, put in the queue to be seen, and then when he complained of pain, his nurse went to the doctor to get an order who reviewed what he knew at the time from the triage nurse and chose what he deemed to be an appropriate medication for someone with a large cut that wasn't life or limb threatening.

(cleaning the wound and getting his stitches took the nurse 20 minutes, never did see a doctor)

There is essentially zero chance that a nurse placed the sutures and cleaned the wound. At a minimum, an NP or PA did the procedure.

quote:

Vicodin was listed as costing him $80

Call and haggle. But can you find a place where you could be assessed, legally obtain the medication, have it administered by a trained professional and then be monitored by the same trained professional for some period of time after administration for less?

ER bills suck, but I had a similar situation. I cut a portion of my fingertip off while cooking, through the nail bed, was concerned at how close it was to the bone. I think I wound up coming about $600 out of pocket. I was struggling to stop it from bleeding, control the pain, know whether it needed surgery, know what to dress it with. Learning all of those things within a 3.5 hour timespan was worth $600 of my time.
