City leaders go to extremes to curb civil liberties under the guise of Covid prevention

This is primarily in Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, etc....but they are setting an example for like-minded politicians across the country that want to inhibit and control economic activity and civil liberty.
Some are threatening to cut utilities to houses where large gatherings have taken place. Now we are seeing large fines for not being compliant with new mask mandates and forced quarantines after passing checkpoints.

This is insane.
There's an all out war on economic activity and civil liberties right now....all for measures that are nearly impossible to enforce properly and will provide dubious value to the general population.

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti announced Wednesday that private residences that repeatedly host large gatherings will have their power and water shut off, according to FOX 11 Los Angeles
quote:
"Beginning at the end of August, fines will be issued to businesses that are non-compliant that can range from $100 for the first offense to $500 and a 30 day permit suspension for multiple offenses. This includes businesses licensed and permitted by the department and those that are not," the city's public health department said.

Los Angeles itself -- despite efforts by one politician, according to the Los Angeles Times -- does not have a fine system for individuals not wearing masks yet. But many other jurisdictions in Southern California do, according to FOX 11 Los Angeles. In Beverly Hills, not wearing a mask will cost you $100 for the first offense, $200 for the second and $500 for the third. Calabasas will also fine those who are maskless in public
In Costa Mesa, Manhattan Beach, and Santa Monica, first offenses for not wearing a mask will cost $100. It's $300 in West Hollywood, according to Fox 11, and the highest in Glendale: $400 for a first offense, $1,000 for a second and $2,000 for a third.
Mask fines are gaining popularity outside of California as well. Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner on Monday announced that his city will slap $250 fines on people going maskless in his city. And the entire state of New Mexico is subject to a $100 fine for not wearing a mask, something the New Mexico Supreme Court upheld just this week, according to KRQE. Washington, D.C. is doling out fines up to $1,000.

Many places, including Washington, D.C., Chicago, New York City and others now have rules requiring people coming from coronavirus hotspots to self-quarantine for 14 days after their arrival. In Chicago, this is communicated by ubiquitous variable-message road signs above the highway warning travelers that if they are arriving from a place with elevated coronavirus case counts, they are not welcome until they isolate for 14 days.
This is insane.

This is just until we flatten the curve.

We should have never given career bureaucrats the power to do this. They'll never let go of it.
We are only encouraging this kind of crap by complying.

JBE says we need to stop being concerned with our rights and be more concerned with doing the right thing

Officials that want to eliminate civil rights and destroy people's livelihood for political reasons should be put in jail or in the ground.
That's the right thing to do.

When you see Communism, call it Communism. Shielding it does nothing for nobody.

Did he really say this?
If so, it is constantly hilarious how Louisiana politicians can basically scream “you are dumb as frick” to their population without skipping a beat come election time.

the economic impact of the COVID-19 lockdowns will be felt by most Americans for years and years to come. It’s going to get ugly.

Those officials are being controlled and given marching orders by the puppet masters

Democrat leaders and their voters are THRILLED about this. They want more of it.

These assholes are willingly giving up our own freedom and the greatest economy we've seen in decades.
They wouldn't bother if this wasn't an election year.
