I'm paying $700 for use of the church.
No idea how much I'll have to pay musicians. Not allowed to play pre-recorded music. Lame, I know.

St. Louis Cathedral is 2750 now. Don't think it was that high back in '08

We are skipping the church and will be having ours at the same place as the reception. For what the venue costs, we figured screw paying additional money for a church wedding. Especially considering we aren't religious.

Edit: and whatever things cost in BR or other places in Louisiana, you can at minimum double the cost for NOLA. Learning that one the hard way.

We paid $2,500 for the church and flew the priest up from LA to NYC and put him up in a hotel. My parents took him to see Book of Mormon

Depends on the Church and if you're a parishioner of that Parish or not.

I'd say $150-$300 for priest depending upon his travel distance needed.

A Priest will only travel from the rectory to the Church. Usually not more than a couple hundred feet.

I didn't say it didn't make sense, just that I am currently learning it the hard way. I'd still choose NOLA if I could do it over.

It was a major culture shock for me coming from small town area. My parents weren't much in the social scene and the few family or friend weddings we went to were the just boring as shite and/or after someone had been knocked up or already had kids.

The massive amount of planning and cost that went into the Nola weddings was just amazing to me.

The catholic church will charge you to get married there, I guess it depends on the church as to what they charge. If it is a nice church that is popular to have weddings in, I am sure it is more.

Then you have to tip the priest. They don't do the lord's work for free.

Speaking of priest, they are some entitled people. Its just an observation ive made over time. For example, they don't expect to ever have to pay for anything. And there are some.. if they are taken out to dinner by someone, they don't hesitate to order the most expensive wine, etc.

There is the typical dumbass OT response we need.

My parents are at 49 years. My wife's parents are at 48 years. We are going on 19. It's working out well for us so far.
